Hah Jim, while I enjoyed all of the books linked to these Adventure Pack flights, there are 3 books that I've yet to make adventures for and they were my most favorite (edge of your seat reading). Here they are in no particular order:

Flight 232
Laurence Gonzales

Note: This is the Sioux City plane crash into the corn field, and although there's been movies and tv shows about it, this book was one of my favorites, and you haven't explored this incident until you've read this book.

Nine Minutes, Twenty Seconds
Gary Pomerantz

35 Miles from Shore
Emilio Corsetti

The Adventure Pack flights help put you "in the pilot's seat" for the flights documented in these books and give you deeper insight into the stories I think. This was certainly true for me in creating the adventures, and particularly with the more detailed crash and discovery or rescue stories like Flight of Gold, Alpine Rescue, and the latest AP6 Lake Michigan crash.

Enjoy,

John

It's there Steve (under the first 5). It's starting another row. Just a reminder to all pilots using the forum icons in their signature:

To update your icons after your award appears in the awards area of the adventure page, Log into SPA and while logged in just open the adventure page and it will auto update to your latest awards. They will then appear in your signature area if you have cut and pasted the line as shown on the awards page (and replaced the 'xxx' with your pilot ID number) - only need to do that cut and paste once to get the icon assignment into your signature area, then it will update automatically when you log in and go to adventure page. Also - there may be a slight delay to the award update appearing on the website due to caching of pages.

Steve, I noted the space between rows now that you were the first to 'test' the second row of award icons. I've made an adjustment to the sizing, so when you go back and update as described above it should (hopefully) reduce the row spacing.

Regarding the AP66, I'm glad you enjoyed it although I didn't pick the location - fate did that, as I used the approximate locations of Temple Butte and Char Butte as close as I could figure them. I was afraid that they might be difficult to find for some pilots, and in reality helicopters were used to ferry in the recovery teams, but through the magic of simulation I've smoothed out the area to allow a bush plane landing in the canyon.

I see it and I suspect others see it. I think it's your browser caching the page. Try restarting your browser and/or clearing your cache. Sometimes it helps if you click in the address area of your browser and hit return there. Trust me - your 6th icon is present. I bet Larry can see it.

Yes...very strange, but likely related to the laptop and not the SPA site. I've checked on Firefox, IE and Edge and it's showing on those three browsers. Let me know if you figure it out.

edited by: jer029, Nov 10, 2016 - 08:54 PM

Many thanks to the SPA Adventurers who have completed my six adventures. As I complete the last long-haul of AP6 I'm amazed by the progress and losses that paved the way to where we are today and might be tomorrow. While I encourage pilots to read the related books to delve deeper into the events recreated here, just flying the adventures - and even using the freeware planes that approximate the actual, will give you deeper insight into the way things were - or were hoped to be.

As I authorize payment for stpaulairlines website for yet another year, I'm pleased by the progress we've made in keeping SPA competitive in the diminishing VA community. My appreciation extends not only to my fellow administrators, but to the active pilots who ultimately make the airline vital by flying, sharing their knowledge and experience, and generally adding flesh and bone to the skeleton and giving it life.

May Saint Paul Airlines enjoy another 12 years of success, and it is my hope that the next officers of SPA will eventually come along and continue to carry the ball down field.

Just completed John`s Adventure Pack 6. l `m sure as other pilots that have or will complete the mission too, have a sense of satisfaction of a job well done. l think this was one of the longest mission that John posted, at least to me anyway. l had doubts about the long flight from KMSP to KLGA then KMCI with the Lockheed Constellation, but it made it through with flying colors.
l don`t know about the others guys but, as soon as l finish one, I`m looking forward to the next one. As long John comes up with these amazing Adventures, there`s going to be guys like me waiting to fly them.
For those pilots that haven`t flown any one of them yet, give them a try. You might get hook on them like l am. Another job well done John, congrats
