Not a pest Jim, I'm happy to try to get this problem figured out.
Try updating FSUIPC if you don't have the latest version (4.949h).
Also make sure you didn't turn on auto-save in the FSUIPC settings.
You say:
"The SPAACARS before this I could pause for long periods of time with no problem."
Was there a version of SPAACARS that worked with Windows 10 for you or did it stop working after upgrade to windows 10?
If still have SPAACARS freezing with updated fsuipc then I'll have to try and recreate the problem by running my test system with Windows 10 to see if I can replicate the problem.

I Have 4.949h but its the free version does that make a difference. all you version worked in windows 10 till your last fix. and it worked as long as did'nt pause it
windows 10 has a hard time getting along with others going to try another flight with out a pause and if that fails I'll trying re-installing SPAACARS sometime when Windows 10 updates it change other programs. have that problem with flight strips
Hope I'm Helping

Thanks Jim,
The free version of fsuipc should work. If it's a problem of a recent update I'll have to see if I can figure out what I did in that update that's causing problems. It freezes right after pause?
Also...you should be able to pause .
In case there was an issue with the zip file I put out there, I've recompiled and put a new zip file out there right now that should have all the updated files in there. It's possible the earlier zip file had files mixed from various compiles - and that could have potentially caused a problem.
You might also try leaving SPAACARS window up non-minimized behind FSX so that you can see it when you're done pausing to see if it has a message or something. Perhaps even leave set on the flight log tab so you can see what it last recognized from FSX ie. parking brakes on and off. That will tell if it's responding and also what data was last logged before it went into freeze.
So...please try re-downloading and copying all the new files over your existing SPAACARS files and try it again (including pause ). If still problems then I'll have to try to recreate it here by installing Win10.

Thanks Steve,
I think you're right regarding the interface, but from what I've located on line there's been issues between FSUIPC and Simconnect where it disconnects and reconnects according to those who have enabled logging in fsuipc to show what's going on behind the scences. I know Dowson had been working on it.
I'm surprised that SPAACARS doesn't beep and allow an reconnect as it has in the past when this happens though - like it's not detecting the disconnect? Not sure whether this is what Jim is experiencing (SPAACARS freezing?).
I'll also look into finding a more graceful delay for SPAACARS while FSUIPC and/or Simconnect recover.
If anyone with problems can create a log in FSUIPC that shows what's happening it might make it easier for me to resolve. I'll even forward to Dowson and Hently to get their assistance.
Any active flights appearing on the website (SPA Acars window on the main page) will always disappear in about 15 min from the last update sent by an ACARS program being used (SPAACARS or FSACARS). That's how that page is designed, all last updates for each pilot remain in the database, but only the last 15 Min are selected for display.- with each pilot having one line (record in the database). So, if you've sent an update in the past 15 min it shows on the site, if not it 'appears' to no longer be there regardless if it's a completed flight, a pause of fsx, or a crash of your simulator.

I've made some changes and put a new release out there (V 4.2). I went through the code to find possible cause for hangs or crash and found two, but I doubt these were problems described.
- fixed potential infinite loop (that would appear as SPAACARS freezing) that would occur if one of SPAACARS sounds attempted to play but the sim wasn't ready to play.
- fixed an uncaught error condition if the fsuipc connection is lost.
The first error seems unlikely and would have only occurred during takeoff and landing msg of SPAACARS or screams - unlikely after pause unless un-pause caused sudden shift in g-force and even then it would have to have found fsx not ready to play sound.
At any rate, that potential cause has been eliminated in V 4.2.
The other issue would have simply caused SPAACARS to crash with an unhandled exception during flight when SPAACARS attempted to use FSUIPC connection when it was 'disconnected'. I've fixed that as well.
I'm still uncertain of exactly what is happening in each of your situations. I think I get Jim's issue - which might have been the sound-related thing (a freeze of SPAACARS).
In your situation Steve, when you say "it quit" what does that mean? SPAACARS crashed with error, froze, ... ? When you restarted a session, what do you mean by that?
Thanks,
John

I've made yet another change V 4.3 that disables logging when in pause mode. This might prevent Jim's issue during pause mode, but it won't help explain what the cause is.
