As FSX starts to make it's way across the globe, and one by one folks pick up a copy, some begin to wonder, "will our fleet work in FSX"? Thats a great question. There are a few of us here at SPA who have purchased and installed the new flight sim; and slowly but surley we'll start tinkering with it. I am currently flying our A319 in FSX and so far so good. There are a few glitches; acft lights not matching up with wing positions, baggage cart and fuel truck hitting the worng locations, and the moving jetway not working; but those are details to be worked out. The aircraft itself flys great, especially with the stock A320 panel and sounds alaiased to it!

If you have FSX and want to tinker with our fleet, please report issues here! The more we can find and identify, the easier it will be to start working on things. Some acft may not even work with FSX, especially older FS2002 aircraft that have been modified for use in 2004!

Thanks all,

Have you defragged your hard drive since you installed it ? That may help. After that, if it still loads slow, let us know. Also, what kind of rig are you running it on ?

I just installed FSX on my machine. Boy, it looks fantastic but very slow. You boys have tips on the tweaks. I know there are some replacement textures floating around. Anybody know the filenames?

I will still look around, jus being lazy here. Thought, I'd skip the search. :-D

Spammers, 8-) yes Steve is good guy. He is right, it would be helpful what system you have. So you are from MSP area too?

Yeti, or Night owl as you shall be called henceforth... tweaks? Here's what I have for sites so far and the ones I have tried are :::
the renaming of the

Autogensdescriptions.spb replacement from
www.fox-fam.com/wordpress/?page_id=41

Another is:

Add following lines to the [TERRAIN] Section of your FSX.CFG file.

TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=4500
TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=3000

From the same site...I put mine at 600 for trees and 300 for buildings.

Same site gave me.......

Default.xml mods -

Option 1) Locate the file default.xml in the Autogen folder and rename it to default.bak. This will disable all of the special autogen buildings such as factories, gas stations, fast food joints and barns. This will let you have more of the normal autogen buildings. Disabling this file will disable a lot of the trees in urban areas. This should give a big boost to frame rates on just about any machine but obviously a lot is lost.

I have those three in place and am very happy so far. I've yet to try replacement textures and clouds as per your advice but will check them out, soon.

Spammers needs some help. I hope to talk to him tomorrow. H emay need more that I can give...I hope I can help him<br /><br /><!-- editby --><br /><br /><em>edited by: SteveL, Nov 03, 2006 - 08:58 PM</em><!-- end editby -->

Steve,

Thank you so much for the link and the tips. It sure has helped me alot FPS wise. I think it is safe to say that Steve is the FSX wizard. :-D

My fps stays above 15+ most of the time and very little stutters after Steve's great tweaks.

Looks like, the author of the link even has instructions on how to reduce the textures to 50% size. I will do that sometime this weekend and let you know the results.

One thing, I noticed on FSX is that the roads are very dark.

It looks awful. :-( Is it just me or do you also get this kind of roads?

Later mate.

My roads seem grey as normal, but I have not flown in winter yet. Maybe they have them darker in winter as a contrast to the snow. Just a hunch.....Ask the drivers on the roads to turn on their headlights. That may help too :lol: :lol: <br /><br /><!-- editby --><br /><br /><em>edited by: SteveL, Nov 04, 2006 - 08:39 AM</em><!-- end editby -->
