I am looking for a good way to make phone calls over the Internet. Today, it seems like there are more choices than ever and it is hard to decide which service to go with.
Have you used any of the following?
<a href="www.skype.com/" target="_blank">Skype
<a href="voice.yahoo.com/?ysmchn=GGL&ysmcpn=Voice...V18go1190gx28pi5ai25" target="_blank">Yahoo Messenger
<a href="www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx...f393a&displaylang=en" target="_blank">MSN Messenger
Some other service
What is your favorite?

I have a friend who has an adapter for skype that lets you use an ordinary phone device to hook up with Skype. After paying 3 dollars a month, you can make unlimited calls to any US/Canada.
You can also get your own private land number to use with Skype for about 6 bucks a month. Only two bad things about Skype is that you need to have your computer running to make calls and you can not make emergency calls.
For me, I use www.packet8.net for our main line. It is just like Vonage. It comes with a phone number too with extra features such as caller id, call forwarding etc. We pay about $25/month for unlimited US/Canada calls. It needs to connect to the router (internet) so it does not require computer. You can also make emergency calls with that. When the internet is down, all my calls are forwarded to my cell phone for backup.
With all these cheap VOIPs (voice over IP), it is wise to use them instead of the more expensive land lines to make long distance calls.

I did an Internet search and they said that Vonage was the best. Here is their web link: <A href="www.vonage.com/index.php?ic=1&lid=login_..._id=AFLGN070313001W1" target="_blank">Vonage.
You can fire your phone landline company and get your internet connection through your cable company.
One thing to be wary of, however, is that your VOIP service provider could go out of business. That's not likely with your landline phone company.

We use Vonage here in Vegas and we love it. We're never going back to "Ma Bell".

Vonage is great but for me Packet8 works better, because it also works with videophones. This is great for talking with the family members who are not computer savies.
We've had it for three years now, and we are very happy with it. The international calls are much cheaper in Packet8 than in Vonage.
We had no choice because the land line in my house is so crappy quality, too much noise.
