Wide Screens and 64 bit PC's was created by Kiwiviator
Hi all, before I decide on my new PC setup, I have 2 questions that I hope someone can help with.
Firstly if anyone is running a widescreen on their PC, can you please post a screenshot of the default 747 panel in "wide screen". I am keen to know how it "fills" the screen, ie does it stretch it over, or do you just get less visibility over the top of the glare panel.
Second, does anyone know if FS9 will run on a 64 bit PC.
A tip I learned, if you are suffering from poor framerates, set your graphics card resolution to no higher than 1024X768. Apparently for each resolution setting higher than this the graphics card has to work twice as hard.
Many thanks
Paul

Hi Paul:
You have to check the maximum resolution that is allowed in FS9. That would be 1440 X 900 X 32. I set up that resolution in my PC display settings. The 747 panel looks normal and fills the screen like it should. And, I get good frame rates. Any frame rate consistently above 15 per second is good to me. I make adjustments to my weather and scenery to accomplish that.

edited by: Robert_Thompson, Jan 30, 2007 - 04:47 PM

Bob, you have a 32 GIG vid card?
Paul, I just set up a 22" wide screen view sonic. WIth my 512meg vid card, and 2 gig of ram, FS9 runs great on my sys; but its only a 32bit'er. I can't answer anything about the 64. For better performance I use 16bit colors in my fs settings; I don't see any color degredation and get a few frams better than running 32bit.
Also, if you switch the "wideformat" setting from false to true in your fs9 and fsx config file, it will run better.
