Steve Lutgen has crashed

I just got a call from Steve L. and he said his computer crashed...big time! If it can be re-booted it will be a week, and even at that he will loose all his flightSim add-ons that were downloads etc. He will need to reformat the harddrive and completely start over.
He hopes to be back up and running next saturday. We'll have to wait and see what the total damage is.

Man, I hate it when that happens. One thing I try to do on a "regular" basis is back up all my FS folders on a CD.....aircraft, guages, effects, modules, add on scenery....probably a couple of more but can't remember right now. That way when I reinstall FS, I have most stuff ready to just copy over.

I'm very sorry to hear that.

Now that you are starting from the scratch, I suggest you create at least two partitions on your hard drive, or even better get an extra one. You then save all your documents in that non windows partition. If your Windows/hard drive crash again, you will most likely have your other partition thus saving all your precious senior citizens' private pictures.

No need to cover DFW boys. I think I can take care of any business from work here. I hope to be up and running by next Sunday or Monday. My box of chips is in Duluth getting worked on by my neice's boyfriend who is a Geek squad guy at Best Buy up there. He thinks he can save my daughter's music and homework and our pictures and maybe my saved videos. I've always thought I should back things up, but I always put it off and did a flight instead. Some people learn the hard way I guess.
The hard drive is ok but will have to be formatted, then Windows XP service pack 2 and all the updates for the last 3 or so years installed.
He thinks he can do all that and more before I come up and pick it up.
I'm pretty sure he's going to add a partition too but I will confirm that with him this week.
I sure hope he can save it, for my daughter's sake.
I really don't care if I lose all my addons. I have a lot I can reload anyway.
