I got Steve on the ground safely. Ken was a different story though. I managed to land him in a mountain......

Hey Eric M,
KSLC is one of the most challenging location especially when it comes to ATC. I was the KSLC approach during our first ATC days, and boy I had a hoot. All those terrains around sure make you sweat.
One thing that I found helpful is to have STAR and approach plates for the corresponding airport. And I always make a note of MSA (Minimum Safe Altitude) from the approach plates before clearing them for approach.
Here are some of the pictures from the KSLC approach.

Thanks Eric for all your dedication to SPA. This service you are providing for all of us is a jewel. Keep up the good work Mr. ATC guy.
I hope Ken made out OK.
Naresh
Who's up for KDEN to KSLC again for this weekend's flight? Chris and Eric you guys free for some professional ATC?

Folks,
Don't forget that Seattle Center will be staffed from 17:00 until around 21:00 pacific time tonight on our server.
Also, tomorrow night Minneapolis Center will be staffed for about the same times.
Come on out to Seattle and Minneapolis and have some fun!

FYI, SLC at night is a whole different animal. Eric was aware of the MSA south and west of SLC International; however MS may be a bit off; he had me about 3-400 feet above the highest marked terrain, however I still ended up in the mts to the sw of the field. No lighting at all at night on these fine hills!
