I've adjusted the sorting of the listing to show the completed flights in descending order so those with all 21 flights are listed first in order of highest average revenue. Congrats to the 3 pilots who have completed the first Econ challenge, and to Motown Xpress who is the current leader for most profitable regional airline of the Group-1 Juneau flights.

Is the challenge now over, or must we still continue?

I'm in Portugal. There won't be more Econ flights until after I return, probably in about 3 weeks. We're working on several enhancements to the model.

Replied by jer029 on topic Congrats to the Econ Pilots
Alf,

The challenge never ends here at SPA . You can certainly finish the Group 1 flights and other groups will follow as they are developed. Note: I still have to add the 'awards' for completion and other things related to the Econ Challenge for the Group 1 flights. Just note that, as other pilots complete the challenge, this might change the final results for that group, as you only get 'one bite of the apple', ie. you can't repeat flights of a group for a better result. The first flight of each official flight number in the Econ2018 flight schedule is the final record for each pilot for that flight. Pilots can re-fly the flight numbers, but those results will only show in the practice page and not in the Official Econ2018 page. Of course, you'll always get hourly credits for any of those flights and they will appear in your personal Pilot's Log.

Lastly - something to work at for pilots waiting for the group 2 flights; The next group of flights will be for larger aircraft (somewhere in the 33,000-200,000 range). We won't know more until Mike gets back to work on this project, but the Econ display for the practice page has been updated with the latest cost/revenue formula, so those of you flying generally using the econ mode setting may wish to practice with some of your plane models within this range to see what kind of profit margins you generate with different aircraft. The updated Econ flight data should then be available on the Econ Practice Page as well as immediately and temporarily on the "Daily Arrivals" area on the main SPA page. Keep good notes, because then you can refer to them when selecting the best plane in your hangar for the next Econ flights when they are available.

edited by: jer029, May 03, 2018 - 04:34 PM

Currently the Econ 2018 model is not appropriate for heavy or very light aircraft. It works satisfactorily for the midrange A/C of the sort appropriate for the first group of Juneau Econ flights. I'm working on a solution to both problems which will require modification to both the cost and revenue algorithms. I'm sorry this is taking some time. So don't take your current Econ results for heavy aircraft as indicative of what we will have when this work is completed.
