EMERGENCY - Army Air Medivac Mission

Operations Order: 060624

Situation:
A U.S. Army troop train has derailed near the town of Clear, Alaska. There are many injuried soldiers in need of immediate medical attention. The roads are impassible due to mud slides.

Mission:
Conduct medical air evac flights from Fort Wainwright (PAFB) to the town of Clear (PACL), load as many patients as possible, and return to PAFB. Ground tranport will be waiting.

Aircraft:
Use any aircraft able to load litter patients and be capable of operating from the airfield at PACL, which has a 4000 foot paved runway.

Weather:
The weather is deteriorating, and at present is 900 feet overcast with a visibility of 2 SM. Wind is 040/10 > (this weather will be automatically generated by the flight server).

Planning:
Charts are available. There is NO instrument approach for PACL (RWY 01/19). Seperation will be 3 minutes for like aircraft.
NOTE: on the chart below PACL is identified as Z84. In FS9, it is PACL. We don't know which is true in real life.

Flight Plan:
Depart PAFB from RWY 06 //altitude is either 4000 or 6000 feet // climbing right turn and proceed direct to FAI VOR (108.6) // then V480 to ENN VOR (115.8)//

THEN>>>Proceed outbound from ENN VOR (115.8) on the 157 radial for 17nm.
Plan your descent so as to arrive at 800-900 feet MSL about 1 to 3 miles from PACL, and be slowed for landing

.

Study charts > there is a road and railroad track to help orient your position as you approach Clear.

.

MISSED APPRAOCH: Turn left to a Hdg of 060 and fly for one minute, then proceed to FAI VOR (108.6). Contact Fairbanks Approach Control for a ILS approach.

DEPARTURE PLAN FROM PACL (with patients).
Depart PACL and fly Hdg 060 for one minute, then proceed direct to the FAI VOR (108.6). When 20 DME from FAI tune in the Fairbanks ILS RWY 10 (010 degees) freq (109.1). Make a low approach to RWY 10 (to 800 feet) and proceed to PAFB in IMC conditions and plan on landing on RWY 06. Use the CUN (Chena) NDB (257) for guidance. The 061 bearing TO CUN will line you up with RWY 06.

CAUTION: PAFB has very large taxiways. Try to avoid landing off the RWY.

NOTE:
All airspace has been cleared by the FAA. This is a MARSA flight (Military Assumes Responsibility for Seperation of Aircraft).

NOTE 2: This is flight server input wx. The use of GPS or FSNav is highly NOT recommended.

Maj.; D. Raine, RAF Liaison
CWO; J. Allen

Naresh:

Looks like FUN!
However in the FlighPlan part...it should be the ENN 157/17
(17nm from ENN...NOT 7)

Certainly ought to be able to get a Herc in and out of there in fine style. We will be configured for 50 litters down the center and 20 ambulatory for our Aeromed crew to take care of.

Thanks Jerry for the correction. I just updated the flight plan. It was a typo. Thanks for pointing that out. Good eyes for an old man. :-D

Gary, it is so good to hear from. I know last time when you were online with us, it was the search and rescue mission, you found the Canadian Yeti! It will be fun to fly with you again. More medics the merrier. :-D

Chris and Steve, looking forward to flying with you guys too. Looks like so far, all of you are flying big planes (Herc, triple 7 & globemaster).

While you guys fly the big planes to transport the injured soldiers, myelf being the CO (commanding officer 8-) ), I will make sure the mission goes without any hitch. So, I will stick with a smaller plane. I will have to make you multiple trips to transport the soldiers back to Fort Wainwright, while we slower ones will only make one trip.

This event has been added to our calendar too.

Looking forward to.

Naresh

HI guys! I won't be able to make it; I've got company coming in on Friday the 23; through the following week; so I'll be a little inactive. Sounds like a blast; though; great idea Naresh!
