Hi Robert,
Airbus has done away with the standard yoke we see today, and instead uses a joystick type control that is on the left side for the Capt, and right side for the F.O. Airbus also tout's a complete computer flight system that can take off, fly, and land if need be; however I've never heard of it done other than tests.
