Settings for JoinFS and Teamspeak for the flight

Hello pilots,

Were coming quickly to takeoff time, so here's a few last-minute instructions:

JoinFS

In the little window that first appears, click the "Global Session" box. You will then be able to see the other planes. If your simulator is connected (I'd get that up and running first and positioned at the first airport - plan on Rwy 8 for takeoff).

I'll have my plane (Beech Bonanza) sitting there about an hour before takeoff(1200 UTC) so you can connect and test your JoinFS prior to takeoff. You should be able to see my plane after 1200 UTC near Rwy 8. If not, make sure that you have the Global Session checked on JoinFS and that your Simulator and Network buttons next to the Global Session checkbox are both green - if not click on the red buttons to try and get them to turn green. I'll try to be on TS about 1230 to help with any technical issues that might be solvable in the those last 30 minutes before take off.

It would also be a good idea to click on JoinFS menu File->Settings and change your "Nickname" there to your spa pilot ID or some other moniker we can call you by. Then make sure you have labels set to on under the information setting of your simulator so that you can see the names of your other pilots. Again you can test this by looking at my plane parked by rwy 8 prior to the start of today's flight.

Teamspeak

We will be connecting to our Default Channel shown on our main website page. You should be able to double-click on that link from our website and it will bring up TeamSpeak and connect you to that channel automatically - if you have TeamSpeak installed on your system. If you do have teamspeak installed and get an error message when you click on that link. You can manually connect by right-clicking on the Default Channel link on our main website and choose "copy link" from the menu that pops up. Then click on the Connect option from TeamSpeak's menu and paste the link you copied into the connect box on teamspeak.

Again, you might want to test that connection out before flight time. I strongly recommend that you also set you transmit for teamspeak to "Push to Talk" and assign a button or key of your choosing to activate your mic. Otherwise, the slightest sound - including your engine noise can cause an open mic problem that interferes with others transmissions. I have a Saitek yoke and have assigned a button on that to work with TeamSpeak as my 'talk' button.

Simulator weather

I suggest fair weather setting with light to variable winds, as Larry will give runways for takeoff and landings (these tend to follow the flight path so there won't be any 360 turns after takeoff). If you don't set your weather accordingly, you might be taking off and/or landing downwind or playing chicken with planes coming in the opposite direction.

Get these things worked out before flight time and it will be less stressful and more enjoyable for all of us.

I'll be taking videos and pics for future promo videos and perhaps a video just dedicated to this flight. Feel free to take some screen shots for pasting to our photo gallery if things are working well enough for you to handle that multi-tasking. Also - I'll be adding the Caribbean Multiplayer Flight Award to any pilot who joins us, so make sure Larry and/or I get your name before signing off from the flight.

Late joins are allowed - just have your sim up and running and connected to JoinFS as described. Connect to TeamSpeak and check in with Larry. He'll give you our current position and suggest which airport to meet us at. It would be good to have the flight plan Larry provided in the Downloads area already loaded in your simulator too. That would be easer than trying to follow other planes.

See you soon,

Have fun guys! Can't join you as I'm "essential" and "working" from home, but I might stop in to say hello if I can. Don't forget some action shots for the photo gallery, especially any blunders...
