K, John just did a quick flight from CSR to PANC, and file the PIREP without ECON being enabled and it was successful. Once I get settle Ill go through my logs and see if I find any differences.

Thanks Chili,

That points to an intermittent connection issue with our server.  Both Econ Mode and non-Econ Mode use the same transmission code.  The only difference is that Econ Mode forces the transmission of the pirep automatically upon landing and then prevents subsequent sending of the pirep.  The attempt to send is only done one time and if it returns error there is no other chance to resend the pirep.  In contrast, Non-Econ Mode does not auto-send the pirep but requires the pilot to manually send the pirep by pushing the "send" button.  It will only disable the "send" button upon a successful upload return message from the server in order to prevent resending the same pirep multiple times.  However, if the pirep fails to be received (and returns an error message), the "send" button is not disabled, allowing the pilot to try multiple times to resend the pirep by pushing the button again and again until it is successful.

So...to summarize, the same routine sends the pirep with both Econ and Non-Econ mode, so it must by an intermittent connection problem between the user's computer and the server I would think.

The question is what to do to correct the problem (if I've correctly identified it).  I'm guessing I will start by contacting our provider about the issue and have them run some diagnostics.  If that fails and the problem continues, I'll change SPAACARS Econ Mode to make multiple attempts until it is successful or fails a certain number of times (to avoid an infinite loop in the event there is a complete connection failure and not just an intermittent problem).

Excellent explanation, Ill put my Network engineer hat on for a bit, and see what I can find on my end, I have the time of the ECON PIREP failure, so I know the timeline to search for, also I'll run Wireshark on my PC and see what I can find.

Thanks John

Thanks Chili,

I'll leave things as they are for now, but please report any future connection issues and I'll move forward on contacting our service provider to start with and possibly adding code to SPAACARs to make multiple send attempts before timing out.
