TWEAK #6 - Where is FSX.cfg located?

For XP machines (sorry, no Vista here, someone can contribute here)

C:\Documents and Settings\%user%\Application Data\Microsoft\FSX\fsx.CFG"

You may need to show the hidden files and folders, through Explorer>Tools>Folders Options>View tab>check 'Show Hidden Files and Folders.

Mike, trust me, it is really easy. Just make sure to make a backup of FSX.cfg first before you change anything. Incase you did not and things screw up, just delete the file and FSX will automatically create a new one for you.

Thanks.

Nice tweaks Naresh. Thanks for posting. I already had three of these but will try the others as well.

I was curious about FSX so I decided to get the Demo (see pics). I made all these changes in the FSX.cfg and theuy made a huge difference, I seemed to be averaging about 13-20fps.

Quick question though, does SP1 and SP2 really make that much pf a difference?? Or how accurate is the demo as an indication for the performance of the finished product?

Suggestions would be appreciated...

If you are running VISTA with an NVIDIA video card, here is one way to tweak your game settings:

1. Open your control panel
2. Open '"Personalization"
3. Click on "Display Settings"
4. Click "Advanced Settings"
5. Click the tab for your video card (i.e. NVIDIA)
6. Click "Start the NVIDIA Control Panel"
7. Click "Adjust image settings with preview"
8. Check the "Advanced 3D image settings" button
9. Click on the "Take me there" option
10. In the "Program Settings" tab, select the game you want to override
11. Select "MS Flight Simulator X"
12. Override the settings that you want to change in "Specify the settings for MS Flight Simulator X"
13. Click "Apply"

8-)
