Ok...now with the site migration winding down (still lots of bells and whistles to add back in and new flight options), I've decided to devote some time getting my own simulator system upgraded for FS2020.

I'm currently upgrading the computer from Win7 to Win10. For those who didn't make the free upgrade when it was available, it will now cost about $150 US to get Win10 on your computer :( . That' was my first investment today.

We'll see how the upgrade progresses...

Ok, so I finished the Win10 upgrade, but lost all of my FSUIPC settings and had to start over again.

I also had to do some sound setting manipulation for both the sim, the main system, and Teamspeak to get the settings the right way again.

I then moved on to FS2020...another $128 US. I'm currently downloading "recommended content" - about 95gigs I think. That's likely to take most of the day. Unfortunately, it started the install on a drive I would have rather not installed it on. Hopefully there's away to get the content to another drive without redownloading it all again.

I have to admit - again, the wonderful videos they show when it did the initial install kept be patiently waiting to see the magic when it finally said I could actually do something with an airplane.

what I did was to add a new SSD to my computer and installed FS2020 to that.

After taking many hours to download content, I checked it at 2am and it had finished its download. I pushed continue and it hummed for a while and crashed to desktop. Not a very auspicious beginning. I turned it off and fired it up again this morning. Things worked fine on the restart and the first test flight went ok except I hardly know my way around the sim or the plane controls yet. I did managed to get a rough test flight in from KMSP to KANE:

Awesome John! The TBM-930 is my favorite aircraft in FS2020 so far. All of the other heavy aircraft, which I prefer to fly, as well as the Cessna Citation jets have really buggy and unreliable autopilot. I can't fathom hand-flying a 747-8i from Miami to London unfortunately. Apparently the Asobo team is aware of these issues and are working on fixing it. The TBM has only given me fits once. All of the other GA aircraft are fun to hand-fly though if that's your thing.

Welcome to FS2020! Once you get used to it, I'm sure you'll fall in love with it.

It looks like Jim Archer is logging fs2020 with acars by the long plane description. I’m only getting recommended graphics settings of Medium. Even at that setting I’m impressed with the way it looks, and not a stutter on flight from kmsp to kane. I’ve still to test it with 3 monitors, so I’ll keep the medium setting for now and look into what I need to upgrade for better setting. I’m running on a standard 2tb drive too.
