This is exciting and welcomed news. Personally I might wait to see how the initial reactions are, but I'm probably going to jump in soon - and will have to get the premium version. Interesting to see how quickly the 3rd party developers will upgrade their offerings and what the upgrade costs will be. I'm beginning to grow weary of changing simulators and upgrading addons.

So Eric and John, do you anticipate having to upgrade your computer to run FS 2020?

The only thing I need to upgrade is my RAM, which I'm going from 8GB to 32GB. That arrives here on Monday. Other than that, I exceed specs everywhere else for the recommended settings.

edited by: SPA118, Jul 14, 2020 - 06:55 PM

You'd think that MicroSoft could have come up with a better name for this version of Flight Simulator. Don't know how you guys feel but I don't want to buy a 2020 car, go to a movie in 2020, wear a mask in 100 degree temperatures, go on a vacation to ANYWHERE with many of the attractions closed, restaurants limited to outside or literally empty dining rooms and staff that' happy to be employed but scared they are going to be infected.
I love the post that's going around social media that mimics a normal rating system asking to rate something from 1 to 10. This one rates the year 2020 as a 1 or as most bad experiences rank.....NOT RECOMMENDED !!!
I agree, I'll sit this one out until the two or three weeks of public beta is over, the inevitable months to year of paying beta testers and two or three service upgrades gets it as sable as FSX turned out to be. In the meantime, I'll wait out another service upgrade to P3dV5 and hop on that. When I replace this computer and can run both P3Dv5 and FS2020 we'll know a lot more about the software, cost, 3rd party software distribution, backward compatibility etc.
