Is there a way to get a good landing rate on water. I set down so easy and still get high scores. Is that normal?

Not sure Bill <img src="tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-think.gif" alt="think">, I'll take a look at this. I'm guessing this is with the Kodiak. I'll give it a try and see what rates I get. I've not experienced the problem, but don't think I've tested with the Kodiak.
I'll let you know if I find out anything.

I messed with it some more after posting and got it a little better. I just may need to turn off Econ. All landings were ok it just says you scared the passengers when landing. I guess I don't get a tip on that one...

Unfortunately turning off Econ mode will disable all reporting of econ data including landing rate. It might have to do with the wave action of the water and subsequent hits of the waves that affect the landing rate - perhaps seeing each wave hit as a new landing event. I'll look at this, and perhaps make some more changes to how landings are registered in SPAACARS. Certainly you must keep your taxiing speed at reasonable taxi rate even in the water so that the wave and bounce doesn't throw off your original landing rate. The log should show if it's recording multiple 'landings' and what the various rates are (I think).

I don't remember seeing multiple landings in the log. Don't waste a lot of time on it. SPAACARS is a great program and you have done a great job putting it together for us. I was just really wondering if it was just me and my landings? So more looking for feedback from other flyers like yourself.

Thanks Bill,
I did look at this a bit and test it out at ELV. I found that I usually hit about 250-300 fpm landing rate in the Kodiak Amphibian on the water. I can of course hit harder - but this is about as soft as I can set down on the water. While there's various coding options that might offer changes to this, 200-300 fpm is satisfactory landing rate to keep passengers happy (although not a 'greased landing' I guess). I see you've managed to achieve similar landing rate results, so I'll probably leave it the way it is.
I also checked the code and it currently takes the first landing rate recorded when it detects plane is on the ground (or water in this case). The program ignores additional bounces, but will not show the landing until the plane slows below 30 MPH, however the landing rate remains set at the initial contact with ground or water - even if you take off and land again before speed reduces to under 30 MPH. When the plane finally lands (slows below 30 MPH). That landing will register in the log along with that very first ground/water contact.
So...I take off at ELV fly around and land there again in the water at 250 fpm, but don't slow down to under 30 MPH and take off again and fly to airport Y. I land at airport Y at a landing rate of 50 fpm and come to stop (or under 30MPH). SPAACARS will recognized the landing at airport Y because my speed was less than 30 and I was on the ground. It will show the landing and landing rate of 250 fpm (remembering the landing rate at ELV while disregarding the 50fpm at airport Y. Since I didn't slow down on the ground/water at ELV, SPAACARS sees that event and the subsequent landing at Airport Y as a "really big bounce".
At least that's what I think happens if I read my code correctly <img src="tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-haeh.gif" alt="haeh">.
