Fellow SPA wing-nuts;
Well, we are back. We spent the last month in the beautiful Pacific Northwest of the USA. The weather was great....sunny with temps around 70 most of the time.
We flew out on a B767. It all started when Delta wouldn't let us check-in for our flight on-line. We tried to check-in curb side at the airport and were told we had to see an agent. They only had two agents working the counter, so it took awhile. It turns out I have the same name as someone on the homeland security watch list. We finally get checked in and to the gate, and the airplane goes TU...leaking brakes. So we wait another 1 1/2 hours while they change airplanes.
We are finally off and flying. We get over Idaho, and some pax is having med problems and we land short at Spokane, WA (KGEG). They take the pax off and refuel the airplane, then realize Delta does not have a tug big enough for a B767 at KGEG...so again, we wait for one to show up from UPS.
We finally get to KSEA....about 3 hours late.
Now the trip home:
It started out good...no alert notice on me this time, so we could ck-in on the computer the night before take-off.
Soon after we get in the air I notice we are being re-routed way down south...overall about 200nm farther than a direct GCR would be. Then we end up holding in southern MO, and then re-routed to Birmingham, AL. But finally our luck changes and we didn't have to land at Birmingham after all...we overflew and finally got into KATL only about an hour late. The reason for all the route changes and holding into KATL was bad weather.
A B767 both ways.
It is good to be home!

Jerry,
Welcome home! Your story reminds me why I prefer virtual air travel and real ground transportation.

Welcome back, Jerry. The Pacific Northwest was an old stomping ground of mine. I'd like to go back there for a visit.

Wow Jerry, sorry to hear about all the trouble/hassle you and your family had to go through.
Good thing, you all made it safe back home.
Welcome back.

Hope you had a good time out west.
I'll bet you're glad to be home.
I just heard today that GW is planning on retiring in Dallas,....Dallas GA. Now you will have someone to while away the hours with on the porch and enjoy some intelligent conversations.
Eat some grits and biscuits and gravy, then walk it off....
Glad you are back in the saddle with engines revved and ready to release those brakes.
