Pilots,

Here is an interesting article on MSFS and changes that are happening and have happened since it's release only a month earlier.

It will be interesting to read "State of the Sim" articles after the Christmas buying season. MS rushed into the market with a visually impressive but nearly unusable game/simulator most likely designed to attract the massive gaming crowd.

I understand that the some users were able to try out the new offering free for thirty days.Wonder how many of them will opt in and actually buy MSFS. I also wonder if all those free trial users were included in the million D/L numbers that was widely touted. Don't really know, but this old consumer tends to stay away from super hyped TV shows, movies and other best thing since buttered bread products and services.

Not sure how they're going to hold on to a demographic that is use to shoot 'em up, save the world, win the race and King of the Hill offerings. MSFS is for the most part visually appealing but at this point a disappointing simulator and at this point a rather difficult, confusing and unrewarding game. The problem for MS is which group will ultimately prevail.

Pretty well echoes my thoughts too. I tried what a lot of folks did, Fly low and slow over my home town. Not really very sharp image of streets and buildings. Recently I was landing at KOKC, runway 17L, tried the ILS and it didn't work. I found the default scenery in X-Plane 11.5 is much better than MS2020. I am buying more X-Plane aircraft and also enjoy flying low and slow.

After my harsh and frustrated response yesterday, I didn't do as I said I would by waiting for future releases. I found my way to the videos posted by that real-world A320 pilot who re-inspired me. This led me to risk trying the A320 open source mod. I added the megapack liveries to this as well. Watching the videos this guy did and the many improvements made in the recent releases, I'm convinced that this A320 will eventually offer the quality of A2A/PMDG type addons, but for no extra cost. Granted, the release was probably premature...but that always seems to be the case. Even with my little SPAACARs program, I think I have things figured out and post the latest version only to be met by complaints and frustration for the users...and stress and frustration for me trying to fix things for all users on all systems. I can only imagine what it must be like on the scale of a major project like MSFS/FS2020, and those are paying customers who expect to get something for their money. I could always fall back on "you get what you pay for" :lol2: .

With the latest install of the improved A320 mod and liveries, I've again found the plane flyable and the liveries not only available for my plane, but seeming to populate the nondescript AI planes at the arrival and departure gates with the wonderful real world liveries similar to UT2 addon we had to pay for with P3D/FSX.

The pilot's videos whose link I included in another thread also does Xplane video comparison. I must say they look very appealing as well, and I can see why there are many Xplane users also. I guess I better get SPAACARs to accept Xplane flight plans in the near future. :computer:

Man, I really feel sorry for the folks having a hard time with FS2020. I had two of the best and smoothest landings I've had yet in the A320neo last night, gliding in at 97fpm for my outbound flight and coming back landing at 180fpm (or somewhere close). Everything has been working perfectly, no CTD, no issues with arrivals or departures, zero issues with the aircraft, and fantastic framerates (and I have my global rendering set to "high-end"). I've never used X-Plane, but FS2020 is a huge step up from FSX, which is what I had been using.

They're releasing another update tomorrow and hopefully this fixes some of the issues for you guys. I'll keep my fingers crossed!

I was thinking of you Eric when I watched that pilot's videos. You might want to check them out. Also look into the updated mod that salvaged my experience with fs2020, and the liveries that add some more fun too.
