This is a system that i have been looking at and only looking at.

I think the minimum you will need is at least.

3GHZ + system
2 GB RAM
256MB VIDIO CARD
Either a GeForce 7900+ or Radeon X1900+ Card .

Go to fs.com and read Andrew Herds preview,
It is well worth the read.

By the way the above system is £2400 you can work that out in $.

Nice screen shots Steve what system are you running it on.

And if any body else byes it can they please let us all know your commputer specs, as this will help others if they need to upgrade.

Its out this Friday over here

Thanks Dave

Thanks for the info Dave. I'm considering upgrading my Vid card from the GeForce 7300LE that came with my sys, to the 7900GT. Now, that will make FS9 run and look better, but as for FSX it may be a waiste of a purchase, due to the fact that to get the most out of it, you'll need DX10, and in order for that to run in its fullest you'll need a DX10 compliant Vid card, AND Windoes Vista.....which from what I understand won't be out until the 2nd or 3rd qtr of 07....minus any patches. So, do you spend the 300 us bucks now, or wait a year and spend the 400 or so then for the top of the line card.....oh the decisions!

Ok yes i have just installed FSX and before i go any further here are my PC Spec.

Windows XP Home with SP2.
NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600. 128mb
512MB RAM.
2.5GHZ iNTEL PROCESSER
Etc Etc.
Well in the Cessna i am getting 8-12fps.
In the CRJ @ FL100 12-15.

But that is with sliders turned right down.

So it liiks like i will have to Up grade, BUT not untill a DX10 Board comes out.

I hope that as given you an insight into what it is like.
It is flyable on my little system but only just.

Dave :-x

I am running 9.0c DirectX and might also need to upgrade to a new PC to get decent performance out of FSX. I think my Dell 8100 will not make the grade.

To find out what version of DirectX you are at, just take these steps:

1. Click the "Start" button
2. Click on the "Run" menu option
3. Enter "dxdiag" and press the "Enter" key.

That application will check for problems with your DirectX and you can see what version you are at.

You can get the latest version of DirectX from Microsoft's web site.

To those who have FSX; Avsim has a seperate forum now just for these topics. There have been some great discussion on the Autogen; and ways to get pretty good performance. I'd definitly check it out. I will probably get FSX once it comes out; and then upgrade my vid items once DX10 is released and cards are produced. Great pics Steve!

Well, I read today on Avsim, linked to another forum; that DX10 will only be Windows Vista compatible...and a version of DX9.0L, will also be compatible to Vista, for those who do not want to upgrade to the latest DX/vid card. The DX9.0L WILL NOT be backward compatible to XP. Hence, to have the best available graphics engine for FSX, you will have to have Vista, DX10, and a DX10 compliant Vid card. Now, thats not to say you wont have a good experience with FSX on a top of the line sys now a day, but I guess you won't get the maximum efforts of FSX. So, my quest for a decent Nvidia 7900; or a new ATI will continue; at least I can get the most out of FS9!
