Pilots,

I've finally had the time to get a bit more used to FS2020, installing and testing the latest version of FSUIPC7. I find it works satisfactorily, but as others ahead of me discovered, the flight model description was messed up. After researching the forum I've made changes to SPAACARS in the form of a new version 10.8 that corrects this problem.

I have left version 10.7 in place for anyone flying simulators earlier than FSX. It is my understanding that the model information used for FSX and FS2020 is not available in earlier MS Flight Simulators. Therefore, if you are still using something older with SPAACARS10_7, then please continue using that and don't upgrade to 10.8.

The new version SPAACARS10_8.zip is located under Enhancements link from the Downloads link from the main menu and then under the Utilities category.

Happy flying,

John

Where can I find the instructions to install 10.8, and do we still need 10.7 for prepar?

Hey Ron,

Instructions are always the same, although I think you can just install over the top of the old version and overwrite all the old files. Regardless, I don't think you save anything by just creating a new folder and shortcut to start the program (that's how I do it, so I still have the backup of the last version). The reason you don't save any extra work is because - if you overwrite your SPAACARS.cfg file, it will no longer find your previous settings (most importantly your spa.ini file), so you'll have to go to settings from menu and reselect your spa.ini file location to make the spa.ini indicator turn green again. Not much extra work of course. Then make sure the other settings are correct. Of course you can always point it to your spa.ini file from the older version folder, but eventually you will have to go searching your old version folders for that file if you keep them as long as I have.

As for the need for 10.8, currently only FS2020 users need that upgrade, but it will work fine for P3d/FSX users also. At some point I'll be making a requirement for an update and the old version won't work anymore, but I don't foresee that with version 10.7 because it's likely the last version that will support legacy MS Flight Sims earlier than FSX.

I normally don't take time to keep a version change log but here's the past version changes:

10.7 updated to support the new SSL (https) connection
10.8 updated to support FS2020 (fix plane model description - but that field correction no longer compatible with pre-FSX versions).

There's probably a history of changes that can be gleaned by searching the forum posts, but I don't think its that important.

Lastly, the best install instructions I think are the pictorial ones from Main Menu link (that aren't there right now because I just noticed they also missed the migration - Argh! :wallbash: ). I'll get that fixed today.

Thanks,

John
