Well, I just finished up all 8 legs of this helicopter charter and it was awesome! I didn't think I would have as much fun back in FSX as I've been having in FS2020, but it was really a blast. It's not easy landing a large helicopter on a floating oil rig, especially when you don't normally fly helicopters.

Thanks for this one John! I sure wouldn't be upset if you whipped up some more helicopter type activities.

Thanks Eric, yes...I've been playing with the helo in P3D - spending extra time at each stop trying to improve my flying and landing. I just flew to and from the first rig. Might do the next today - with more practice at the landing site. On return to the airport I spent the next 45 minutes just practicing flying from one of the three helo pads to the next and trying to nail a landing. Some improvement - but I wouldn't fly with me if I was a passenger.

I'm looking forward to the helo's coming to FS2020 soon. I'm not sure about scenery addon for that, but I've been looking into development so that we might be able to add some more helo fun with FS2020. In the meantime, yes...there will likely be some additional helo flights for FSX/P3D.

Are there any tutorials on how to make the best of the FS2020 developer tools?

Things are still in flux - as is the sim, but FSDeveloper website is the go-to place for the latest on scenery development for all sims.

On another note...I think I've achieved the greatest crash speed for an aircraft while experimenting with my helo on the flight back to HUMA. I found that, once in a dive, it won't recover like a plane will :help: . I think I should have tried pulling the throttle back to idle and letting the props slow and right the aircraft, but didn't have a chance to try that on a second attempt. Fortunately, I've been reading up on flying and landing helos and I finally decided that viewing through the pilot's window is preferable than from outside the aircraft (tail view).

Not perfect yet, but big improvements today...after slamming it into the ground about 25-miles short of the airport while testing different descent options and autopilot functions.

A bit more practice landing while looking through the windscreen and I think I'll be ready for some group helo flying :icon_lol:

-427.53 feet per second if my calculations are correct. Almost half the speed of sound. Quite impressive!
