LOW & SLOW is the WAY to GO
ACARS Error Message was created by SmittyBRS
Good Morning John,
I get this message every time that I try to enter my FP with the FS Flight Plan button. All I have to do is hit the OK button and all works well. This may be why I really don't get good info on the flight board....just a thought.

Smitty,
It appears that the FSTramp Flight Planner is not compatible with SPAACARS. By looking at the error message, it appears that the word "tramp" is included in a string that is trying to be converted into a numeric value. It's possible this is some type of comment or tag of some type I didn't encounter when I initially developed the flight plan interpreter for FSX flight plans. While other programs adhered perhaps to some written specification for FSX P3D flight plan format, I relied upon a few flight plans generated by FSX and/or Plan G. It's entirely possible that I didn't account for certain data inserted (or that might be inserted) into the flight plan. SPAACARS seemed to work for FSX flight plans (which is what it was originally developed for), and eventually P3D flight plans and I believe Plan-G generated flight plans.
So....I guess FSTramp joins XPlane as flight plans that cannot be read correctly by SPAACARS without my creating or adjusting the flight plan interpreter code so that it can adequately parse the flight plan data and put the information in the right fields of SPAACARS. Sometimes the flight plan will partially complete and then give an error, allowing you to continue running SPAACARS with only partial Flight Plan information completed. In that case you can add the necessary missing fields to activate the "Start Logging" button to have SPAACARS record your flight.
As a last resort, as with Xplane, you can manually add the flight plan data to the main SPAACARS page and thereby activate the "Start Logging" button so that it can be pushed to start recording your flight data into SPAACARS.
Perhaps at some point I will again look at SPAACARS for upgrading, but it's quite a mess after going through a number of changes over the years and should probably be entirely overhauled. Every time I fix or improve one thing, I run the risk of causing a whole group of new problems that need to be addressed to bring the program back to a relatively stable release that we've had for some years now.
You might also try loading the plan into something like Plan-G and re-exporting it to see if it will correct incompatibility problem.
Sorry I can't offer you a better solution for this problem at this time.
John

You are also correct that this could be a cause of missing route information of the Active Flight map.

TX for looking into this. It's really no biggie as the FP does copy to SPACARS it just doesn't allow the coordinates to be captured on the Flight Map.
Hadn't really thought about it, but I'm going to see if flights generated by P3D work. I can always create the FP in the Sim and after I start SPACAR can open open FSTramp for the moving map and making FP changes on the fly..
TX for the info.
