Landing Rate Calculator

I have a Landing Rate Monitor that I monitor my landings. It seems that landing rates reported are at times different with SPA Acars. I can understand a little difference, but my flight to KSNA was reported to be -910 fpm. That was a very damaging landing. I did no bounce or had no violent reaction in the aircraft. The Landing Rate monitor was -212 fpm, firm but not nearly as severe as SPA indicates. What happened here?

SPAACARS samples the landing rate at regular intervals and keeps the final value when it detects a landing. It's possible that you pulled up in the short time span between samplings and touchdown and ended up with a softer landing than indicated by SPAACARS. SPAACARS cannot sample after the landing of course because the landing rate is 0 then. It also must retain the last sample taken when wheels-down is detected to avoid detecting bounce as the landing rate. The more sampling SPAACARS does, the more resource intensive. This seems to be a workable arrangement if you don't rocket to the ground with an extreme flare at touchdown.

It's the best I could do at the time I wrote the program.

I am using P3D 4.5. Thanks for the reply. The landing results were shocking.
