Thanks Bob; I'd never heard that recording before, although I had heard Murrow on the "I can hear it now" recording many times as a kid. I wonder if you have ever read Freeman Dyson's account of his work as an operations analyst for the RAF during WWII in "Disturbing the Universe". The odds of surviving a tour in the Lancasters over Germany was very small, in part because the escape hatch was too small. Interesting stuff. www.nk.ca/~kopper/bcors.htm.
