For all of you future space cadets, there is Orbiter. I've tried it and it really is as accurate as a space simulator can get.

<IMG src="orbit.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/images/thumb72.jpg" align="left" hspace="50" vspace="30"> Put the pedal to the metal at launch and make sure you achieve enough lateral velocity and distance from Earth to reach a stable orbit. Launch toward the East to take advantage of the Earth's rotation. I think you will need to be going at least 26,000 mph to stay in orbit and high enough to be free of most of the atmosphere. Otherwise, you will just fall back to Earth and burn up. Correct me if I am wrong.

Let us know when you have made it. Unlike a cat, in the simulator world, you have more than nine lives. So, keep trying. And, post some pictures.

If we can figure this out, then we can start building our orbiting space station and begin cargo runs to the Moon.
