Adventure Pack question was created by philippe721
Has anyone ever found the downed plane (AP11) or the sinking fishing boat (AP12)?
I am pretty certain I downloaded and installed the scenery pack and everything else as per written instructions as well as per the video but still can't find anything.
Thanks for your help.

Hello Philippe,
Some of these earlier ones can be more difficult to find (lots of the later ones have flight plans). Anyway, to make sure that you have the scenery installed correctly, you should have unzipped the SPA1.zip after downloading it. Then go to the extracted files and move the fx file to your scenery effects folder. Then add the SPA1 scenery file to your simulator's scenery library. If installed correctly it should appear at the top of your scenery library like this:
<img src="modules/gallery3/var/albums/John-Rogers-Pics/spa1lib.jpg?m=1555796144" width="800" height="600">
You can see the SPA1 scenery is at the top of the list and enabled. Make sure you install into you scenery library the inner SPA1 folder - the one containing the Scenery and Texture folders, otherwise it won't load into your library. This means you need to click on the first SPA1 folder to open it and see the second SPA1 folder. That second one is the folder you want to select from you simulator's scenery library "add scenery area" option.
The easiest one to find is the sinking ship because it's right off of the airport at Whittier (PAWR) as shown in my picture below. If you can't triangulate based on the visuals, the geo coordinates shown in the upper left of the pic might help too. As you see in the picture, the airport runway is in the distance and the sinking ship is under the left wing of the plane. The town of Whittier is further to the left in this photo and out of sight.
Let me know if you need further help - I'm always willing and usually able <img src="tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif" alt="wink">.

John,
Your files are organized well: 1 Lib file with a name and 1 Scenery file with a corresponding name.....then another Lib and another Scenery. and so on.
I can't see how it is possible to achieve that with the files given in the download folder for the SPA1/SPA2 called "SP14" .
I have to say in my defense that I have downloaded and installed countless files from Flightsim over the past decades but this one stomps me.
It seems that in some other adventures the files are better organized and I'll try those.
Thanks anyways

Philippe,
You're on the wrong download page! Sorry - that's partly my fault in that the link is the same for all the Adventure files and it takes you to the download section - but apparently moves to the end of it (the last page) in all cases. I wasn't aware of that and will try to fix it. Note: You can also get to them through the main menu: Main Menu->Download->Enhancements->SPA Adventures. This still takes you to the end of the files and you must go to the bottom of the page to get to the link to the starting page. Strange how that works. I think I might be able to change that in the settings, I'll look at that later.
So you've actually downloaded the wrong file - you have scenery for adventure pack 14.
At the very bottom of the page you will see the navigation button to the next page (actually the first page of downloads where AP1 through AP5 files are located.
So sorry about this - I remember the frustration of flying all over the place looking for a downed plane that wasn't there when Larry and I downloaded a scenery that was missing a file. This should solve all your problems. Still - all my files seem to have that extra named folder in them so you always need to use the inner folder that contains the Scenery and Texture folders for installing to your simulator.
Also - AP1 is the simplest install because it was my first "project" and only uses default scenery and effects - although I did tailor a controller for the effects that you move to the effect folder. The subsequent adventures get more involved (or not) depending on my increasing scenery development skills and my time and interest in the adventure I was working on.
Some of the other adventures are more complex and have several library and scenery installs. The most complex also have aircraft modifications (guns firing for the Truk Lagoon Operation hailstone and the fire retardant drop for AP13). I've included video's and more detailed instructions to help with those modifications. Of course the aircraft downloads and modifications are optional to fly the missions - but it's nice to have something to do when you fly them. Some of them work without modification ie Doolittle's raid part 1 and part 2. The scout boat will explode when you near it (even though you aren't shooting at it like you would normally be, and the bombs drop automatically in Part-2 - even if you're flying a Piper Cub, as long as you're over the target (the oil tanks at the water's edge). That added plane download suggestions and modifications are just added realism for the adventures - especially flying the planes that were actually used during the real-life events. Lastly - for those involving carrier landings, it's probably best to use our SPARRCAB_P3dv4 download addon. It's very easy to use, works with FSX and P3D and will simulate landing cables takeoff catapult without modifying your plane (works with all planes and anywhere land or sea). It's located in the Main Menu->Download->Utilities.

John, Thanks for your help. It was silly of me to try to work Adventure SP1 with an SP14 Download, I should have known better. I
really like those adventures and will probably do all of them.....Thanks St Paul Airlines!!
Now only one question remains. Why are those fishermen swimming in freezing water and getting hypothermia when they could be standing on top of the cabin??
