Pilots,
I've been working on trying to figure out the problems with the sound files added to SPAACARs by setting the "use sound files" setting in the 'settings' area of the menu <img src="tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-computer.gif" alt="computer">. Unfortunately it still gives me an unacceptable pause just after landing <img src="tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wallbash.gif" alt="wallbash">- which really sucks when landings and takeoffs are the best part of flight simming. So...you can use it if you wish, but I'm keeping it off for now in my own settings until I can think a another 'solution' to try.
in the mean time, here's some changes with version 5.4:
* Corrects locale-specific date error for some of our foreign pilots who had their computers set for their local regions that resulted in dates of 01/01/0001 flight dates (boy, wouldn't those folks have been surprised to see you fly over them back then.). Not a noted problem at this point, but should prevent pilot-altered local date changes from resulting in SPAACARS crashes or failed uploads of pireps related to dates.
* Adds format error-checking for editable Local Date field and makes the Zulu time non-editable.
* Some work to improve sound efficiency and other efficiencies like moving sound files and position updates to a background thread (which has done nothing useful regarding the sound delay problem as far as I can tell).
Anyway, please update at your convenience because eventually I'm going to set a cutoff for older versions where they will no longer work for uploading pireps.
