I am excited about version Prepar3D 3.2 and that makes me want to use that instead of FSX. I removed FSX a long time ago as an early adopter of Windows 10.

Now, I discovered that I can still use some of the aircraft models that I bought from Carenado. They have versions compatible with Prepar3D and DirectX v11. Prepar3D has a different means to display scenery objects without affecting frame rates. That helps display scenery objects and weather more efficiently.

For those interested in a multiple monitor setup, I would caution against P3D. While I don't know about version 3.2, earlier versions didn't like Nvidia surround with multiple monitors - bringing my frame rates to a crawl. I've read that there are ways to make it work, but they require additional licenses for each monitor - an expensive proposition.

Still, I've been impressed with Yoland's pictures from P3D, and I'd be happy to upgrade to a better sim - even if I have to start over with addons. My latest hardware upgrade has made fsx workable now, so I'd have to be convinced the upgrade is worth it.

edited by: jer029, Apr 06, 2016 - 07:13 PM

Be sure to monitor the forums on FSX vs P3D version 3. A lot of the discussion now is still referencing older versions.

P3D version 3 is much improved.

I would like to know what video card would be the best now for P3D ver. 3.
