I have always wanted to fly in this part of the world so when Jerry gave us an open charter to
Get to Moscow via any way and any aircraft I thought this is it.
The first leg from Vladivostock to Baruun-Urt was flown in Aeroworx B200 a great twin aircraft. The weather for this leg was not to bad hit a bit of cloud half way through the flight but the weather in Baruun-urt was a bit different with a ceiling of 7800 and vis down to 2sm and no ILS I thought I would not make it, but with all the training that I had and all the flights that we have done in low vis I managed to bounce only twice.
A change of aircraft today I will be flying Dreemfleets Baron another great aircraft.
The weather has improved today as well with 20sm and a few clouds at 3300, still cold, my flight plan was going to take me to ZMUG Ulaangom but I had to divert because with getting away late the light was going fast, and I didn’t want to land in the dark round here
so I diverted to Khovd ZMKD.
I just made it here in the evening with less then 30min light, good job the weather was good 40sm few4000.
After sleeping in the aircraft all night I was up planning my flight to Russia which wasn’t easy.
I planned to fly to Omks which ment that I had to fly through Kazakstan and I am clad that I did as the scenery was a surprise I thought I was in Denver [check out pics]. After checking the weather I was away on the last leg.
I new this would be a long leg of the trip but it was worth it, checking ATIS for Omks which was 319/16 35sm clr 3/m12 I put here down on rwy25.
Fuel Leg 1 2195lbs Time 4.4
Fuel Leg 2 835lbs Time 5.7
Fuel Leg 3 932lbs Time 6.3
I don’t know about the rest of the trip to Moscow watch this space.
