In FSX how do I figure out how much fuel I have burned during a flight. I just flew the 1st training flight that lasted about 30min. The fuel gauge reads full almost like no fuel was burned.

Rod,

To do that you have to record the weight of fuel initially on board before you started the engines and then record how much you have left when you turn off you engines at the destination. To see how much fuel you have on-board, go to "aircraft " in the pull down menus at the top of the FSX screen and then click on "fuel and Payload". There you can read the fuel weight, payload and gross weight of your aircraft. You can also change the fuel and payload with this screen. We have a program called FSACARs available on our website which automates the measurement of fuel and elapsed time. However, it requires that you download and install it and it will require an .ini file available from our webmaster. You might want to wait a little while before trying that.

The training manager and I are currently working on a "Second Flight Tutorial" to follow the one I attached to my welcome E-mail. When that is finished, it will walk you through all of these details, but it probably won't be out for a while yet.

To make an estimate, if you know the elapsed time of your flight, you can go to our "aircraft fleet"/"passenger" page and click on "average fuel consumption" and select your aircraft from the pull-down menu to get the average fuel consumption per hour for your aircraft. Use that and the duration of your flight to estimate your fuel consumption for your PIREP.

Eagleman,

I've sent you an E-mail explaining how to do this.

P.S. I see that you've gotten that and posted it.

edited by: Westcoast, Jun 03, 2009 - 07:57 PM
