Thanks for the FSX tips, guys. Appreciate it. As Bob says, all things are possible with cash. <deep sigh> I suppose I should lurch into the 21st century, get the hardware upgrades, get Vista in, and buy some upgrades. I run Active Sky in FS9. Greatest piece of software I ever bought after FS.

I installed the Xplane 9 demo a few months back! my computer liked it all that much! I didn't like the way that if you put the scenery too high it gets really foggy, and really, the scenery isn't that great! from what I've seen if you can get FSX to run nicely its probably the best option at the moment! I know its probably nice to thinkn that eye candy isn't that important when choosing a simulator, but personally the more realistic looking the better, i'm sure most would agree!
There are certain things that x-plane does better, sloped runways etc, but overall the environment in FS is more realistic (airport environment for example...most Xplane airports, are just bit of tarmac) you also get no traffic in Xplane...the best they can do is recorded chatter!
If Xplane is to become THE simulator in the future, i think it has a lot of catching up to do, visually!
