ya i remember seein that video when steve did it first, its a shame Steve isn't still at SPA!
One comment i noticed said the following...
"I never see SPA at MSP on VATSIM, do they operate on VATSIM?"
Perhaps we shud try again to get more SPA pilots flying on VATSIM. I tried a VATSIM flight from LAX to LAS the other day and had quite a pleasant experience. I think a major issue people have is the need to have charts for the various airports that they're flying to. But i did this flight in the PMDG 737 so for me it was just a matter of loading the SIDS/STARS into the FMC. I am aware that a lot of people don't have models with fully functional FMCs but i think for those who do, VATSIM (when well controlled..i.e. plenty of controllers) could be final link to a fully realistic simulation. But having said that A CMOPLEX AIRCRAFT IS DEFINITELY NOT A REQUIREMENT.
However during my flight the other day, i had ATC coverage up until i was about 60/70 miles out of LAS and then the controller went offline which made it less fun. But up untill i lost ATC coverage it was a great flight.
But i think if people keep an eye out for the various VATSIM events (where ATC coverage is almost total) it could be quite a fun experience.
Jerry, perhaps if before an event (lets say for example the weekend before a major event) We were to run an ATC training flight (preverably on our SPA server so everyone can join in) in which everyone were to fly a route into the airport where the event was gonna be held and that would give beginners the chance to make the mistakes in a more relaxed environment. This is just an idea but VATSIM flying can really be fun and i think it's something simmeres should try at least once!
