MSFS FS2020 A320Neo Navigation Problems

Ok, since the update yesterday to 1.8, the navigation on this plane seems to not work at all once you set your arrival and STAR. Here's the flight I've been having problems with: KMSP to KDLH. (Minneapolis to Duluth). I punch in the approach to Rwy27 with DAYAR transition and the approach route appears nicely on the MCDU, but there's also a line back towards KMSP. The NAV indication shows DAYAR as current waypoint and the plane immediately changes direction when you insert (R6 button on MCDU). Unfortunately the plane turns completely around and heads back to KMSP. Even more surprisingly, the NAV shows it heading to DAYAR and actually still counting down the distance remaining to get there!

Am I doing something wrong or it this a bug since the update?

:cry3:

Hey John,

I scanned the official FS2020 forums and its one of the top complaints after the update. The A320, post update, has gone completely haywire. I have not had a chance to fly it yet since the patch but I plan on trying tomorrow.

If you have an account, you can stay up to speed here: forums.flightsimulator.com/

Zendesk is also the official location for reporting problems with the simulator directly to Asobo: flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us

Thanks Eric,

Yes...I actually joined up earlier today with my issues, and the workaround was to use the Direc-to option to get the plane to go to the Approach. I still have the airspeed surge at the start and, when trying to land at KORD, the previously complained about too high approach altitude to make the landing, issue. So...there's still a number of bugs to work out with the A320Neo. On the positive side, my upload of the patch went well and there were noticeable improvements in frame rates and lack of stutters when flying the A320 with the patch installed.

So...things are slowly improving. The discussions on the site are crazy regarding the latest patch and problems with it. It seems that most stem from addons that were not part of the original sim install. I would recommend that users not add any addons that will populate your community folder with stuff until things stabilize with the main sim install.

I've managed to fly my regular MSP to DLH run with the A320 with some workarounds for the autothrottle runaway and the Approach tracking issue.

I've not sent bug requests to Zendesk, but will leave that to others for now.

I have to say the only fun I've had flying FS2020 is flying smaller aircraft and doing short trips looking at the scenery. I'm back to P3d 4.5 for any other planes. I wish they would come out with P3D version 5.1 soon.

I really had a lot of hope for this product during the beta, however, they needed to make money so released it too soon. Every new release seems to create more issues. Still haven't fixed the TrackIR snapping back to center in Pause mode.

I guess I'm disappointed for now. Maybe later it will get better

I'm still having fun with it, and there's some things I want to try yet with it, so I won't be going back to P3d anytime soon I don't think. I did also note the issue of too high approach altitude into Chicago last night from MSP. They kept me at 18000 until way too late to get down to the runway safely, I made it, but had to land manually farther down the runway. My first nice landing with the A320 landing manually.

Its really weird that these problems seem to happen for some but not for others. I've only had one bad flight so far with FS2020. After reading the forums yesterday regarding post update issues I was scared to even try to use 2020 this morning. I decided that I should at least try and if I run into any problems, I would submit them to zendesk. Took off from Phoenix headed to Sioux Falls, SD and almost two hours into it with the A320 I've had zero issues. I'm not using any in-game assists either and its been smooth sailing all morning. I'm set up for an RNAV approach into Sioux Falls so I guess we'll see how that goes.
