Pilots:
With many of us following Stay-at-Home rules for the apparent future, multiplayer flights offers additional safe social interaction - and with your fellow SPA pilots. These flights are informal (no real-flight communication protocol), just friendly banter among the participants as we fly together.
The flight will be Larry's Caribbean Island Tour, the flight plan can be found on the Bush Ops page in Special Operations from our main menu. We will be using our TeamSpeak channel that is linked to our main web page, and JoinFS application for linking simulators. Pilots who don't have compatible simulators (FlightGear) can also join on our TeamSpeak channel perhaps to share conversation and fly along on their own simulators even if we can't see their planes. Perhaps multiple FG pilots can join each other using multiplayer flights options that FG provides.
Note that there is no special scenery needed to be downloaded to enjoy this multiplayer flight, so anyone and everyone can join in the fun if you can connect to our teamspeak server and chat, and hopefully join us with JoinFS to fly together if you fly FSX/P3d/Xplane.
Each flight period will last about 1.5 to 2 hours, and we'll decide towards the end of each period which airport we want to stop at and start from the next scheduled flight period.
Additionally, we will offer a new Hub Award for any pilot who participates in at least one of the multiplayer flights of this tour.

So...for those who are interested, I would suggest making sure that your scenery for this area is installed the way you want it and ready to fly (I'll be looking to install some scenery enhancements for this area before flight time). Also - install and test out your TeamSpeak and JoinFS programs to make sure you can connect for multiplayer flights.
Expect additional details soon.
Happy flying,

Thanks Oswald,
When I get a date and time finalized, you might want to share with non-SPA FG people who might want to join. Perhaps they'll be inspired to become members here at SPA if they have fun on a multiplayer flight.
I see this as an opportunity for the flight-simming community to enjoy some shared flight time when we all want an escape from the bad news around us, and what a better place to escape than the Caribbean! .
Everyone stay tuned for updates.

I have scheduled the first of these multiplayer flights for Tuesday at 1:00pm Central Time. That would be 1800 UTC. Note - the current UTC time is displayed in the upper right corner of our website among other places on the Internet. I'm happy to answer any questions or problems regarding this multiplayer flight opportunity.
The flight will start at SVCU (Mariscal Antonio Jose De Sucre Airport flying to SVMG Del Caribe Intl. Aircraft should be suitable for the various airports and capable of at least 160 Kts. cruising speed. Kodiak is probably the faster of single props that would work, with my other favorite being the twin otter DHC-6).
I intend to fly periodically connected to Teamspeak and JoinFS for anyone wishing to test their simulators with these applications. If you see me connected on our Teamspeak channel shown on our main webpage, feel free to connect and test your connections so that you're ready to fly on Tuesday.
For the Tuesday flight, I suggest you get set up about 15-20 minutes before hand so that you're ready to go, as we will start takeoffs at exactly 1pm (1300 hrs) Central Time. Pilots are free to join in after that time, and we'll happily share our current location with you so that you can meet us at the nearest airport we are flying to or from.
Again, feel free to post any questions or problems here - or you can email me also.

I just arrived at SVCU airport with a planeload of 70 tourists using an ATR72. I will be flying an MD530 helicopter on this tour with three passengers. But, I will be using my own schedule. Could we take some of these tourists along with us on the tour?
This should be fun.

edited by: SPA031, Apr 02, 2020 - 04:24 PM

Sounds good Robert - I've heard from another pilot planning on it and Larry will be there so that's already 4 of us who will be there to have some fun.
