LOW & SLOW is the WAY to GO

Good Morning,
For some unknown XP-12 and our ACARS program aren't playing well together. When I end a flight, stop the engine and set the parking brake and stop the log sometimes strange things occur. It will sometimes send a msg saying I've got to reset the fuel or reset the system clock. If I attempt to do either it stops my flt and will not allow me to XMIT the PIREP. Unfortunately this has happened before. I suspect it's XUIPIC triggers so because the ACARS tracks great I just copy the ACARS msgs and submit the PIREP manually. Thought I'd let you know why there are, at times, many manual PIREPS submitted.

Thanks for the information Smitty. I don't use XP-12, so I can't test SPAACARs with it. First, make sure you have the latest XUIPIC, as these interfaces generally update as simulator versions do. At least that's the case for FSUIPC. Based on what you're describing, SPACARs is detecting a change in the fuel quantity and/or the time. You might consider having SPAACARS send the PIREP before you do whatever triggers the messages. Also, make sure you understand how to reset the error messages. One of the buttons cancels the popup error, but that will also disable SPAACARs from sending the pirep - but allowing you to shut it down without that popup message in the way. The other button (I think the "ok" button) is waiting for you to reset the value indicated in the error message. Once you set the appropriate value indicated in the error message (adjusting the time and/or fuel quantity), then push "OK", and the message should disappear and allow you to send the PIREP. The values don't need to be exactly as listed in the error message - just relatively close. If the value entered is not sufficiently close to the required value, the error message will just pop up again.
It's also possible that specific plane models do something with the fuel value upon shutting down the aircraft that trips the error message, so it might be related to a specific plane.
That's all I can guess, and perhaps other XP pilots might have suggestions.

Hi John,
You've probably hit the problem on the head. Peter Dawson no longer supports XUIPC and doesn't even have it on his site. There are at least 3 or four different versions floating around on the Internet by a number of authors.I've tried most of them with very little luck. There even one that I downloaded that doesn't use XUIPC at all. As I recall it tries to use SimConnect in it's place....it didn't work at all. I've found only one version of these recent efforts to "tweek" the original but although XP-12 upgrades often I've yet to see an upgrade or improvement for any of them. The one that does kind of work is a "modified" 2018 file to upgrade to 64 bit! The weird part about the whole thing is kind of a crap shoot when I try to submit a PIREP....sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't BTW, don't waste your time trying to modify our SPACARS the same thing happens with the new and improved version( s) that have been sent to us XP users by the Developer of the ACARS used in my other VA....again sometimes OK, next time it just stops cold and doesn't even create a log so I can recover date for a manual PIREP.
