I finally got P3D V5 installed and my flight stick working. When I started it the first time, it said that I had some missing DLL programs. After an internet search, I found out that I only needed to repair a couple of Microsoft C++ 2015 programs before running P3D V5 and I had to upgrade my video card driver. The weather looked very real with accurate clouds and even a haze on the horizon. One can choose from several preconfigured weather situations. Or, you can design your own weather. The ocean looks like real water now.

ORBX is now working for P3D V5 and your files are all there. Your account is still available for downloading. ORBX also has weather settings that you can use. Their weather looks good. I also like the 3D landscape which seems very accurate using ORBX scenery. I also noticed an improved frame rate.
Lockheed Martin is now making available an updated version that fixes a bunch of issues with the original version. The latest version that you can download now is 5.0.24.34874. I just finished installing the latest version following their instructions. So far it works and I hope this solves the hard crashes of my computer with the first version. The ORBX scenery looks awesome.

Thanks for the update and keep us posted on your progress. I think I'm sticking with P3D version 4 for now and waiting to see what add-ons I already have will be free to update. I'm waiting for Microsoft Flight Sim 2020 to come out also.

I agree with Bill on all points. Thanks for the information and I’m interested in how it works for you. I’ll wait for now and see how compatibility issues resolve.

My next step is to see if Carenado will install my aircraft into P3D V5 after the version upgrade yesterday. Well, I am installing a couple of Carenado aircraft now and they work fine so no worry. One has to choose P3D V4 and browse to the P3DV5 folder on your PC to put it there.
I also need to restore ORBX scenery that I did not get to yesterday. What ORBX scenery I restored yesterday looks fantastic. I like it that my frame rate has greatly improved even with high P3D settings.
Next problem is my PC is short of disk space.

edited by: SPA031, May 05, 2020 - 08:01 AM
