St. Paul Airlines FSHost Servers Shut Down

Pilots,

I've shut down our FSHost servers with the availability of JoinFS that allows users to fly multiplayer flights and includes addiotional simulators like Xplane. JoinFS is freeware and works well with FSX and P3d as well as reasonably well for Xplane pilots all flying together on a multiplayer flight.

Regular attempts to inject trojans and other malicious software into my system through the FSHost servers makes FSHost an unnecessary risk given the better alternative of JoinFS.

If there is utility to FSHost that JoinFS doesn't offer to pilots, please let me know and I'll consider restarting the FSHost Servers.

Our TeamSpeak server will continue to be operational.

Thanks,

Sorry about that Terry. I think you two were the only users of our FSHost servers (although the repeated attack attempts even exceeded the connections you made).

Just wonder whether there will be some stage of JoinFS that includes Flightgear. It would be lovely to fly together in some common world ...

There was a brief discussion on this on the JoinFS FAQ, but apparently it is far away from any priority.

Yeah, I looked into that a while back and came to the same conclusion - probably from the same post. I guess I was a bit surprised that FS9 didn't work with JoinFS because most MS flight simulators were fairly backwards compatible, but that might be primarily through FSUIPC. It appears that JoinFS accesses simconnect directly rather than through FSUIPC. I'm pretty sure that FSUIPC made many connections backwards compatible with FS9. It might be just as easy for someone on the FG side to create an addon that would allow other simulators to connect to the FG servers. At least that way they could all fly on the FG servers - although this would be a lot more limiting than the other way around.

No Problems here I just need to update so i can do more... thanks again I feel like Im letting the VA down because i don't file as much as I should but I am getting back on my feet and things will get moving again around here, so most definitely will be up grading in the future months to get the flight sim built better.
