Hi Bill
Went to CZO I don't have any trees in the runway. However the trees at both ends of the runway are only about 25 feet from the ends and 50 to 60 ft tall so you loss about 25% of the runway which leaves you about 1544 feet to land on. I landed a Cessna 208B in there but made it prefect weather no wind and clear crossed over the trees at stall speed and 5 to 10 feet above the trees used all of the runway got it down and stop right at the end. It took about 5 tries. This would be a real challenge in marginal weather with a cross wind. I think some of the more experienced bush pilots could get a Twin Otter.

That's weird. I wonder why I have trees all down the runway. I have the ORBX trees hd add on so it may be the issue.

Hah Bill, I know what you mean. I'm not sure about CZO yet (but I'll check and let you know), but I've run into several of those along the way, and even one with water flooding the airport buildings. I've also had several with roads and vehicular traffic running over the top of runways and/or taxiways. The latter includes KORD!. I've also had at least one where I'd be taxiing along and crashed into an invisible wall - crashing my simulator. This can happen with addon scenery - including Orbx, so they recommend having crash turned off on the sim. Even then, I still tend to try to avoid trees (natural instinct I guess) which can result in some unconventional and unpleasant landing experiences. Now and again I get annoyed and will inquire with FTX/Orbx regarding these issues in hopes they fix them in future releases, but often it's just a quirk with my system and the various scenery addons play together.

I have Orbx Global and Vector as well and the many regional areas available, running it all in hybrid mode, so...

For the most part I can accept the small annoyances - but cars across KORD, Argh!

Ok...no trees on runway for me at CZO, but again, a road that runs across a parking area.<img src="tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-shakehead.gif" alt="shakehead">

Thanks George, Yes, I believe that many scenery addons recommend turning off crash detect - though don't recall if Orbx does. Certainly with RTMM stuff you'll want to. I think I crash going from Misty's place down into the water for a water takeoff if Crash Detect is turned on. At the time of that issue I might have had an additional scenery pack for that area I was referring to about the crash on the taxiway (Hibbing or Intl Falls MN) but don't recall. Also, many aircraft addons request you keep Crash Detect off so that you can make simulated belly landings and other things. Regarding KORD, it seems that must be an Orbx/FTX issue because that's the only scenery I have running there.

My method for tracking these down is rather tedious - disabling various scenery areas until the problem goes away, then finding the offending scenery file within the scenery so I can either disable it and/or advise the creator in hopes for a correction.

I discovered an area with a RTMM scenery file at Nina's Landing - I shared in an earlier post, that caused major FPS hit. I tracked that down to one of their sound files that played music that was causing some type of conflict. By renaming that sound file so it didn't play fixed the FPS issue (and stopped you from hearing that music all the way to PAKT!).

Since the only scenery running in the KORD area for me should be the Orbx/FTX stuff (unless RTMM or one of the few addons I use messed with an underlying core bgl file - which is unlikey with my install), I'm pretty sure it's an Orbx/FTX issue - although not seeing any posts on it from others. Still, could be how I have their files configured in my system. Just too lazy to go through the process of elimination to ID the offending scenery files. I did send a request to FTX/Orbx. If they returned a response I'll update this post.
