Augusta for Masters Week

Since Augusta is my home airport, I thought I'd share some of this. It's Masters Week, and all the stars of the PGA will begin the biggest tournament in golf tomorrow. During this time the Augusta Airport gets very busy, around 2,500 planes will fly in during this week.

The airport will also see some new improvements, including repaving the largest runway from asphault to concrete, and adding a new general aviation terminal. Delta will also resume a main line service on May 1st.

Augusta airport is fairly small, so I can't imagine seeing up to 190 parked planes out there. The terminal is very small and I've never seen it when it's busy, but this week it will look very different. I wonder if anybody is going to control KAGS TWR on VATSIM this week? It would be fun if enough pilots wanted to fly in.

edited by: mbenson27, Apr 06, 2011 - 11:04 PM
