problems

Sorry to hear that William. I'm trying to diagnose my own computer issues where even my operating system crashes - right down to a black screen (not even the BSOD). Also alarming is that when this happens it corrupts files it might be writing or reading. I found my FSUIPC ini file was corrupted after the last one, and didn't have a back up of it, so I ended up recreating my various plane profiles in FSUIPC.

No sweat William; we're used to waiting out computer troubles. In fact that's the worst thing about this hobby. I sometimes think it would be cheaper, and certainly simpler, just to buy an airplane and junk the computer. A couple of weeks ago FSX was crashing my machine - total freeze, followed by a buzzing sound and then a reboot. WTF ? So I did the usual rain dance, ran System Mechanic six times, etc., etc. Now it's stopped, but I have no idea what I did.

Remember that one of our pilots found that Windows 10 was problematic with a number of FSX addons:

Although Yoland has had success with it, but I think he uses P3D now.

Yes John, I remember that one of our pilots reported having problems. That's why I asked; to see if anyone else has had success. I don't have enough time to fly as much as I'd like (who does), so I'd like to avoid spending a bunch of time working my way out of a software swamp. Yoland's approach sounds like a good one, but my primary flight sim computer (I run two), has been used for flight simming for six years and has memory issues. I'd probably be better off to wait until I'm ready to buy a new machine, start with Windows 10 and add FSX and FSX add-ons in an orderly, structured way.
