SPAACARS 10.15 Released

Pilots,

There is a new SPAACARS for FSX/P3D/MSFS2020 (and Xplane too I guess).  

This version adds updated Flight Status messages that appear on the Active Flights Map page.

More importantly to everyone - including me, is that I've removed the modal error message (the type that won't let you close the error box).

It's important to understand that the error box will still appear but you can choose "ok" or "cancel".  If you choose anything other than "ok" YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SAVE YOUR PIREP!

If you wish to save your pirep through SPAACARS after receiving an error message, you MUST CHOOSE "OK".  This will give you the error message as before until you correct the error as explained in the error box (ie. change the time, payload weight or fuel quantity as described in the error message).  Once the simulator setting referred to in the error message and been corrected, you can click the "ok" button on the error message and it will stay cleared and you can then save the pirep as usual.

Note for Econ Mode:  If you don't correct the error message while in flight, the pirep will fail automatically on landing and there will be no opportunity to correct the error after landing as you can do in non-econ mode flying.

If you use Econ Mode like I do regularly for all flights and are used to the pirep saving automatically.  If you're like me and you sometimes shut the simulator down while forgetting to shut SPAACARS down first and you get that frustrating error message after the pirep was already automatically sent and your simulator is shut down.  The only way in the past was to use Task Manager to kill the program or shut down your computer.

Now you can close the error message and SPAACARS in this case without concern about the pirep not sending (since it was already sent automatically.

This will make the error message less frustrating as long as the pilot understands that canceling or closing the error box instead of correcting the error will result in no longer being able to save your pirep for that flight through SPAACARS.

Yes, sorry about that. The Enhancements link is actually the main index link and the SPAACARS programs are in Utilities folder there. I will have to rename enhancements to Index so people don't get lost in the maze.

There is no change affecting Xplane version (or any other simulator) other than improved flight status on the map and the option for closing the error box if no concern for saving the pirep if you choose to close the error without correcting the error.

I do encourage you to download and install the new version. You can keep the old version if it isn't working for you. just install the new version in separate folder. Don't forget you will need to tell the new version where to find your spa.ini file so that you get the green indicator for spa.ini file. You do that through the File option from the spaacars main menu.
