Important Message Regarding Missing Flight Hours

Ok Pilots, here's the situation with missing Flight hours. Your Total Hours are stored in one location and when a flight is completed that number is added to. Flights that have been removed from your log over the years - generally at your request, remove them from your logbook, but this doesn't update your hourly totals to reflect the changed flight log.

So, unfortunately - pilots' total hours for all their flights in their logbook will not necessarily equal the total hours listed in their Pilot Record (the one that's displayed as your total hours).

For example my pilot record shows 1785.3 Hours, yet - as you can see, my logbook total hours are actually 1770.7. This means that my Total hours I'm credited in my Pilot Record is higher than my actual logbook says by about 15 hours, and that's not adding back in the few hours I missed last week during the transition.

The Logbook/Pilot Record discrepancy for me is likely higher than most because I do lots of testing on my account, and had deleted a number of flights but not changing the flight total manually.

So.... below you will find a listing of pilots and the actual flight hour totals according to your logbook. Please review your totals, and - if your Pilot record Total Hours is less than that shown below - please advise your Hub Manager so that they can change your hourly total to match that shown below.

If your pilot hours show a higher number - I'll leave that to the individual pilot if they want their total hours adjusted, as I'm not sure why changes were made to flight logs that caused the discrepancy.

I've not discussed this decision with the rest of the management team due to the timely nature of this matter. In the event there is overwhelming opinion among the managers to alter the Total Hours differently, everyone will be advised of that.

These Totals are current for all flights through 8-31-2020.

As a long time Hub Manager, I noticed this problem years ago. So, when a pilot wanted me to delete a flight from his logbook, I would also subtract those hours from his pilot record total. Of course I probably missed some and other Hub Managers may not have been following this procedure. So, now is good time to get these two records into agreement.

I also noticed this a few years ago when SPAACARS was misbehaving and giving pilots outrageous hours. Changes to the logbook didn't affect the total hours and those had to be adjusted separately. This is, again, another pain for Hub Managers to deal with when making changes to pilot accounts, and I hope to someday correct this and the other little things that continue to annoy us all.

I'm fine with any decision, and I think any hourly adjustment will have minimum impact on the pilots affected.

However, until the issue is fixed so that logbook changes automatically adjust pilot hour totals, the problem will continue to repeat. I'm not sure changing the hours at this point will do much other than to 'reset the clock' so to speak, and will need to be done again and again until corrections to the logbook area of VAHQ are made . I do love these emoticons - like I said, there are priorities...
