FlightGear Multiplayer Flight was created by jer029
Just to separate the hijacked thread on the anticipated MP flight with FlightGear on Saturday so that it's not buried in the "My first Pirep" thread, FlightGear pilots looking at flying along with can find the flight plan and information in that thread - unless someone pastes it here too.
A note to SPA pilots who fly Multiplayer Flights, you can get hourly credit for them here at SPA. Just use "9ONLINE" as your flight number (aka IATA number). If your SPAACARS is working you can use that as well with the online flights, or manually add your data via the pilots office.

This is really great! I am very much looking forward to it.
A few points:
The suggested flightplan appears to be detailed, but is a very rough indeed as it is only intended to give an idea. We could easily say we meet at KHND and fly to KPGA and just follow one another.
To my opinion the route is a bit too long for Warrior or C182 as it was intended for the faster B1900d which I would accompany with the Aerostar, both airports would have rwys long enough for the Beech. If hte B1900d could fly slowly enough to go with Warrior and the like (cruise 120-140 kts), KGCN as the standard tourist Grand Canyon airport might be a more appropiate destination, we can easily decide on the flight.
Anyway the possible route once more in this thread:
skyvector.com/?ll=36.1204234010195,-113....N11151W%20L41%20KPGA
If you want to get a skyvector route into the FG route manager, produce and save it as a gpx file, afterwards you have to put the departure and destination airport into their places in the route manager and erase them from the route and everything ought to be fine.
Any multiplayer server will do, they are interconnected anyway, it is said to be worthwhile to take the nearest to you location, to my experience it doesn't really matter.
You can follow our flight on mpmap02.flightgear.org or mpmap03.flightgear.org, the latter is a bit easier to handle.
Don't forget to download the scenery, Terrasync is a very appropiate way (in the launcher: settings: click download scenery automatically. If you are already familiar with Terramaster you might like to download beforehand.
In order to see the other pilots' aircraft, you have to have them downloaded into your aircraft folder. Therefore please state your aircraft of choice a few hours beforehand in this post so that we can download them. If you didn't get them from fgaddon (standard aircraft in the FG launcher), please state your download source.
I shall take the Piper Aerostar, downloadable from: github.com/FGMEMBERS/Aerostar-700
And I also recommend it for this flight as it is not too difficult to handle for a fast piston twin, AP works. Beware: the fgaddon version in the launcher is quite nice, too, but it doesn't have working flaps so landing is a very special challenge indeed.
Now this was a quick introduction in FG multiplayer flying. If any questions arise, do ask. Will we use the SPA teamspeak server for communication?
Regards to all of you!
Oswald

Thanks Joe...that was fast!
I've downloaded it, but won't get to try it until tomorrow when I load the flight plan for flying.
Yes - we should probably wait until the start time and take off together so we can try to stay together somewhat. Most multiplayer flights I fly we generally land at a number of airports (generally about 6 I think, and we wait until all have landed and then take off to the next one. After all, it's the takeoffs and landings that are the most fun.
I'll add your program to the download area when I get a chance to try it out tomorrow.
Thanks again,
John

Okay then, we meet at 20.00 UTC (8 pm) on Saturday, Sept 8th.
Please don't forget to state your favoured aircraft.
B1900d, Cessna 337, Cessna 172 and Cessna 182 are accessible from the launcher (fgaddon), PA-28 Warrior probably from github.com/FGMEMBERS (is that the one you take, Ben?), Piper Aerostar also from github.com/FGMEMBERS.
If it turns out that most of you prefer light ga aircraft, I'd suggest that we take these, start at L25 (Peace Ferry) and Ben might give Bob a hint to an easy start plane (warrior?), we could dive into the Canyon and hand fly in the valley coming out wherever we want. In this case please download Cessna 337 from fgaddon (launcher) as I would take that one.
If we stick to faster planes and maybe fly the suggested route, departure from KHND would be appropiate.
Please write your preferences, as I am much ahead of you in terms of local time I will react accordingly tomorrow.

Saturday morning, homework accomplished, time for a deeper look into possibilities.
1.: Faster piston/Turboprop like B1900D or Piper Aerostar, cruise at 180 - 220 kts indicated:
KHND to KGPA
2. Light single or twins like C182, C337, warrior, cruise at 120-140 kts:
1G4 to KGPA
I suggest we take no. 1. What do you think?

Hey Oswald, I'm fine with either, but we should try to keep the total flight time within a 2-hour time frame. I've not flown the flight plan so you'd have a better idea about that. Are you trying to have us all in different plane models or is it ok if some of us are in the same type of plane?
