Pilots:

I'm pleased to announce the first release of a version of SPAACARS for pilots who use FlightGear simulator. While I realize this is likely a small group of pilots, they can now also upload their PIREPS automatically through the use of the new SPAACARs-FG program available in our downloads area. Note, SPAACARS-FG is currently a more limited version of the original SPAACARS program available for FSX/P3d, and only works with the FlightGear simulator.

I'd like to thank pilot Oswald W. for his help and patience in testing this program, and helping steer me through the FlightGear simulator unique install and functioning that I needed to learn to create this program for FlightGear pilots who may wish to join us here at SPA.

While I still prefer FSX, and my current sim - P3d v4, over the FlightGear simulator, FlightGear is an open source free simulator, and in keeping with the SPA ideal of freeware offerings for our pilots when available, this is an important step in including FlightGear users in the many offerings available here at SPA.

Thank you John for your work and commitment towards me and hopefully further FlightGear pilots. It was a pleasure to work with you right across the wide Atlantic Ocean . And I am looking forward to continue to work with you some time in the future when the current limits are to be expanded.

As I already did, I will carry on posting images every now and then to show FG scenery and aircraft. I like the sim a lot for its opportunities, lively development and discussions in the forums, sometimes its immanent chaos (the wiki and forum are not always up to date to the current version, as John certainly realized). I am happy that many of the SPA opportunities are now open for FG pilots, in particular I like those many ideas for "special operations" flights.

Oswald
