Adventure Pack 8 Group Flight Tues 2pm Central Daylight Time (UTC-5)

For any pilots interested, Larry Chew and I are planning at least the first segment of the Adventure 8 (Doolittle Tokyo Raid) on Tuesday at 2pm. That's 2pm for those pilots local to the St. Paul Airline's MSP Hub (KMSP) and 3pm for those on the East Coast.
We'll meet up on TS3 15-30 minutes prior to the flight and connect sims using JoinFS freeware program. Any pilot interested in joining us please feel free to connect at that time.
In preparation I would suggest, of course, that you download and install the AP8 scenery files for this adventure, including the flight plan and necessary addons for this adventure like the Arrestor Cable program and the two freeware aircraft.
If you're new to multi-player flights, also download and install the latest JoinFS version and TeamSpeak freeware. NOTE: If you are new to this and want to ensure you're set to go, feel free to contact me in advance and we can connect the various programs so that we can iron out any connection problems prior to the flight.
I would also suggest a bit of practice landing and taking off on the carrier with your chosen aircraft, and using the Arrestor/Catapult addon if your sim allows. Note, it is possible to land the Corsair on the carrier without this addon, but it's more challenging. The bomber of your choice will only need to take off from the carrier if/when we get to that point, and takeoffs with both suggested freeware aircraft is relatively easy without addon programs to assist. We will start with the Fighter Plane segment of this adventure, and may not get to the bombing run on this flight.
I will also attempt to video the flight as I did with Adventure Pack 7. As usual, TS3 communication will be relaxed and non-ATC/VATSIM protocol, just friendly banter while we try not to run into each other, and the rule of the day will be to have a good time and enjoy the adventure.
Feel free to contact me individually or as reply to this forum if you're interested, have any questions, or wish to set up a prior 'connection session' to verify your system is ready to go.

<div><span >I'm willing to help anyone who requests it. The only software is the Arrestor Cable thing, and that's not necessarily needed for the adventure. Otherwise it's just TS3 and JoinFS, which I don't think should be a problem with P3d. If JoinFS is a problem we can always go back to FSHost.
Other than your group of regulars I'm not anticipating a large interest (after all, there hasn't been a large interest in the Adventures to begin with). I'm guessing that you and any of the regulars who fly with you have worked out most of the problems other than finding a P3D replacement for the Arrestor Cable program.
While it would be nice for pilots to use the aircraft model bomber actually used, pilots are free to use an aircraft that works with their sim and that they're comfortable.
All anyone needs to do is ask and I'm willing to help (as I'm sure you are too - and you're often just a click to TS3 away <img src="tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif" alt="smile">).

Steve,
The ArrCab files were that arrestor cable program and that first link I had posted wasn't good. The zip file it pointed to seemed to have a lot of useless stuff and no executable file, so anybody trying to install that would have been confused. The repaired link that now goes to a zip file in our enhancements area of our download has the correct executable files included.
The carriers for the flight are included in the scenery files like the Titanic Adventure had, and the flight plans should help pilots locate the carriers for practice landings and to save the flight with them sitting on the carrier if they wish so that they are ready to fly on Tues.
As always, I'll try to help anyone who posts a problem or contacts me by email.
On a side note - you may wish to run a video of the flight too, as it's likely that my video won't pick up all the bells and whistles your bomber has, and it would be nice to include those clips like with Adventure 7.

Thanks Steve.
For those intimidated by the arrestor cable app, first make sure you have the latest link - the first was to a zip file without any exe file to run. Also don't be overwhelmed by the directions regarding installing the zones on specific carriers. Just read about the arrestor cable setting for all landings. You can use this on carriers and short airstrips too.

Hey Steve:
l too was having problem with the carrier arrestor cables in my FSX, not P3D, but my problem was l had the wrong software. After John sent me the correct one, I look at the settings
l reset the program and connection, and started to do practice landings. After the second landing, and third and so on, got the arrestor cable to work. First you have to lower your tailhook, otherwise it won`t enable your cables. Then press down on the F10 key, you will hear a voice on your approach, then you can make your landing on the carrier. Works like a charm. Since this is an old FS 2004 program, l don`t know about P3D compatibility. Now if l can find a B-25 with a tailhook.....

The new link on the AP8 page goes to our enhancements area in downloads and the stand-alone exe app works well with FSX. The one Steve is using didn't work for me in FSX - if it's the same one, because I kept getting fatal errors in FSX. The program Larry and I are using doesn't even require a tailhook, just having your landing gear down before setting arrestor. It may require the tailhook entry in the aircraft.cfg file even if it's not graphically simulated, but I don't recall. I know it worked fine with the A2A P-51 Mustang, and that has no simulated tailhook, but I didn't check the aircraft.cfg for the tailhook entry.
Regardless, the Corsair has tailhook and works well with the arrestor App, as does the bomber, but remember-the bomber won't land back on the carrier for this mission. It will land in Russia.
