Aircraft fleet, liveries and Flightgear

Hello pilots and developers,

I am happy that fellow Flightgear pilots have joined and we are welcome and much supported by the SPA community, and I appreciate a lot that livery development for FG aircraft is on the start. Thanks, Joe for this and John for including into the aircraft fleet site!

Looking into the Categories it is a challenge to find fully functioning aircraft in Flightgear, as FG planes typically are on different development states (often with updates from time to time) and some are simply not advanced enough for decent VA flying in commuter and airline service. Though there are many great GA planes for bush flight!

Therefore my experience from aircraft search:

Cat 1: B1900d (just the one Joe made the first SPA livery for a FG plane), found in the launcher.
Cat 2: Bombardier Q400 (the jsb version by D-ECHO, found and slowly further developed in github)
Cat 3: I carry on using the Q400, the Bombardier CRJ series (launcher) appear to be well developed, too, haven't tried them in the air.
Cat 4: MD 87 (github) if you want to use an older aircraft. Modern aircraft: I skip it, the first decent airbus is A320 (github A32x series under constant development).
Cat 5: Boeing 737-800 (either github or a bit more simple in the launcher) which will be my next choice after promotion to SPA captain some time

I have not looked deeper into Cat 6 and 7, there should be enough around.

Maybe this might help other FG pilots for SPA, if you found other fitting planes, give us your ideas! And any livery developer might like to try and adopt an SPA livery to one of these.
