I dl'd the Cat VI Airbus 330 and the Boeing 757 and used the install exe provided. Everything seemed to go alright but I could not locate the aircraft from within FSX, nor in the SimObject/Aircraft folder.
What could be the problem.

Bill,

I've not used these for some time as I tend toward the payware addons. However, I tested out the two planes you mentioned and found that the installer appears to be putting the install other than where it should go.

I've noticed that it creates a new "simobjects" folder in with your regular fsx "airplanes" folder and places your files there. You might try manually moving those files back out of the new 'simobjects' folder and put them in the 'airplanes' folder with the other aircraft folders there. Also there is an 'effects' folder created with one effect file in there. Move that file into the real 'effects' folder. Then just delete the wrongly created SimObjects folder containing the Airplanes and effects folders created by the installer.

For me it was like this:

D:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\SimObjects\Airplanes

Note the two simobjects folders above. Move the two airplane folders into the first airplanes folder and delete the now empty airplane folder.

Next move the contents of the effects folder (the one effects file):

D:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\SimObjects\Effects

to this folder:

D:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Effects

Then delete the SimObjects folder that the installer created.

Alternatively you might just install the files and folders to a directory you can locate and then manually move the files and folders as described above into your own FSX file structure.

You can probably find the incorrect install by searching your Microsoft Flight Simulator X folder or the disk drive for SimObjects folder. It will likely find two of them. Identify the extra and move the contents as explained above.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have further questions.

John

Thanks, that was the problem. It had installed the files to Program Files instead of Program(x86) Files.

The above is why I put "NEW FOLDER" on my desktop and direct installers to install into that folder.

No muss, no fuss :-D

It's also why I don't like installer programs.
