Fellow SPA Wing-Nuts:>

tommygecko has encountered problems with our BE1900.
In an attempt to help him I just finished flying the thing (I don't think I've ever flown it before), and I found it to be way too fast, even at idle power, and difficult to control.

I know the real 1900 to be very stable and easy to fly.

What I'm looking for is some feedback on the 1900 to see if those of you that do fly it find it acceptable, or think it should be replaced with something a bit easier to fly. I'm not sure if it's the airplane or my system.

Please post you impressions and specific problems (if any) with the SPA 1900 below.

Thanks. :-D

Well i know that on the ground it is very difficult to control...even with throttle at idle and condition levers set to low idle it will excelerate to about 30kts ground speed...without even touching the throttle.

however i find when you get it in the air it flies fairly well...even though it can be quite difficult to slow it down for landings...i find with full flaps i need to have throttle almost set to idle to get a comfortable approach speed.

Another thing i find strange about this plane is that when you set flaps...the nose tries to go into a fairly steep nose dive and i really have to fight it to prevent me losing too much altitude ...Flaps are meant to provide lift no??

But i have never experienced the kind of problems tommy is describing...it sounds kinda strange...might it be worth re-installing the aircraft in case the aircraft.cfg file got corrupted in some way???

Hi Mike, I bought the PMDG about a week ago for I think 14.00 download. I agree great plane to fly. I think our SAAB is a bit fast too. However someone I bet in our airline can change the Aircraft Config. Just keep steve away from it. Jim

Mike Foster or Jim:

Would you please send me a copy of the 1900 config.file and air.file from you PMDG bird?

I'd like to compare what makes one fly well and the other not so well, and see if I can fix our SPA machine a bit.

Thanks

Gentlemen,

Great observations gentlemen.

First of all, I had flown our B1900D long time ago and it did not perform well in my system.

Secondly, I would like to remind you that it is not stricktly required to fly SPA B1900D, if you think it is not up to your standard. You can let your hub manager know of your situation/concern and you can fly any aircraft you wish to, that is in the same aircraft category. I find the stock KA350 and C208 to be very stable and I enjoy flying them in short trips.

I know there were extensive testings done on an aircraft before being approved to be in our fleet, but every aircraft behaves differently in different computers.

So, remember you are free to fly any aircraft you wish to for SPA as long as you have to approval from your hub manager. And please let us know if you find a better aircraft for that category.

Thanks guys.

Naresh
