Welcome New FlightGear Pilots - Summary of Compatibility

As we welcome our 3rd FG pilot, bbuske, to SPA, I would like to give FG pilots (current and future) a quick update on FG compatibility here at SPA.

I've worked closely with Oswald to develop a version of our ACARS program SPAACARS-FG, built almost from the ground up to work with FG and allow for auto-pirep uploads to our website. Additionally, with some minor additions to a number of FG aircraft XML files, you can use FG and SPAACARS-FG to fly our Economics module and flights. Additionally, SPAACARS-FG now includes the cockpit sounds just as the original SPAACARS developed for FSX/P3d.

Unfortunately, my ability to develop scenery for FG is not in the foreseeable future, and the multiplayer cross-platform flight does not yet appear to be available to allow FG pilots to fly multiplayer with FSX/P3d pilots.

As FG and its functionality continues to improve with further development and other 3rd-party addons, I look forward to adding increased functionality here at SPA for FG pilots.

Hope this answers some of the questions FG pilots might have, and as always, feel free to email me or post on the forum if you have specific questions or problems.

That would be great if you can get it working Joe. Let us know the results . I'm also looking at the possibility of adding our own FG multiplayer server so that FG pilots can at least fly together here at SPA - and perhaps see when other SPA pilots are flying, but it looks like it needs to run on Linux or Unix platform, so I'll have to get that set up on one of my systems and then get it up and running. So much to learn...so much to do...so little time - and I like to fly sometimes too .

Thanks guys,

I've changed the upload module for Gallery photos that I hope will allow Joe to upload his pics. This changes the look and feel for other users as well, but also allows Firefox to work for uploading pictures without the dreaded 2038 error - something that I even received using Firefox.
