Ok..I think I figured out my problem(s) as well. After thinking a bit about the similar performance problems I had with the King Air and the Saab, it dawned on me that it sounded more like a system problem (FSX), not an individual aircraft problem. After doing a repair install from my FSX disks (and the acceleration repair - otherwise it got fatal errors if I didn't repair both), I find that all aircraft are performing much better - and as they should. This means that the airspeeds are what they should be during flight without loss of performance.
Prior to correcting this issue, anytime I dropped below 160 knots the king air and the saab wanted to fall out of the sky. No stalling, just lost altitude like a rock while maintaining whatever speed I set below 160 with a very high nose up angle.
What a strange problem! Now I get to relearn to fly using correct approach and landing speeds all over again.
